9-inch Asus Eee PC officially out!

Asus will officially release today the new 8.9″ Asus Eee PC laptop. The bigger screen ultraportable is just about 2 inches wider in the display department from the earlier 701 Asus Eee PC launched last year. Pictures below puts the two Asus laptops side-by-side:

In the onset, the new 9-inch laptop doesn’t seem to be any bigger than older one. The 7-inch Eee PC has its built-in speakers on both sides of the display screen. That is now removed from the 9-inch version to make way for the additional inches of screen real estate.

The battery life will still be around 2.5 to 3 hours with disk space ranging from 8GB to 12GB and priced at €399. My guess is that when this arrives in the Philippines, it will be around Php30-php35k which won’t be that competitive with current full-featured laptops.
