90.7 Love Radio picks up my Blogging 101 Sun.Star Article

I was in a cab this afternoon, and the driver had 90.7 Love Radio on (which I wrote about awhile back). I was quite surprised that the DJ was talking, in Filipino, about blogging. I was even more surprised when his speech sounded really familiar. I realized it was a Tagalized version of my Sun.Star Blog Chronicles article entitled Blogging 101.
Now, as part of the terms of posting my article on Blog Chronicles, and with Sun.Star Cebu’s having published it last October 24 in their Cyber Cafe section (edited by Max Limpag), Sun.Star holds the legal rights to the article.
As of this writing, I have yet to get in touch with Love Radio’s management to raise concern on this apparent infringement (I have yet to secure their number), especially given the article was re-”published” in a commercial setting. I went ahead and gave Max a call to ask him if this is indeed an issue worth raising. Sun.Star will check on it.

Considering a writer’s output is but a sum of the knowledge one gathers from material read elsewhere throughout one’s life, then maybe we can say none of our writings are 100% original. My original post was 100% original, in the style and manner of writing. But as for the message? Perhaps only less than 50%. There are scores of blogs and websites out there discussing the same topic and bringing forth the same message.
You’re quite the prolific writer, and I’m sure you know about this area more than I do.
But it’s no longer up to me to defend the originality of what I wrote. The fact is that an article was published by a paper, and someone made a derivative work(which was almost the exact thing, sentence-per-sentence) without authorization. It’s their call.
No disagreement there J. thanks for indulging me. this reminds me i wanted to do a piece on piracy (software, games) which I think is free advertising and in fact GOOD for the leaders because it kills competition. something to think about in case ur thinking of clobbering the station. offer them na lang “service on consultation contracts” like the freebie software folks do! he he more power…love this site!

just like rss rules, you can only press charges if the said article was one; read without proper reference to the original article; two, they made some direct or indirect ways to gain money from its listeners by reading your blog. besides, you know how filipinos are when it comes to copying, just take tv for an example, filipino tv already have a countless numbers of spin offs from offshore programs. unless you have a strong material to prove that its your blog they are actually reading on air in its tagalog form, then i guess you have something to infringe them then. – opinion

I have posted a comment of this post on another blog by Mr. Racoma. I dont have any idea about the updates, but I want to express my being upset.
I worked before at a station, and i have experienced how painstaking it is to get raw data as resources for our hourly newscast. We cannot just transcribe, lift or even quote something from a newspaper article.
Sadly, maraming mga radio stations ngayon na tinotolerate ang mga ganitong practices. Minsan, they allow DJs and newscasters to read reports, verbatim, straight from Inquirer, MB or PhilStar broadsheets.
I know that KBP is aware of these issues, I just pray na maliwanagan ang mga ganitong klaseng mga announcers. It’s a lesson especially for new radio journalists.
Let’s not wait before somebody gets persecuted.

Hello! lam nyo,ang lalakas ng powers ninyo talaga.kahit badtrip na badtrip ako as in super nakakunot na ang nuo ko sa pagkabadtrip pag kayo na ang narinig ko sa radyo at nag patawa grabe naaaning ako sa sarili ko kasi bigla nalang ako matatawa.buti nalang at nailukluk kayo sa mundo ng fm station at madami kayong napapangiti kahit minsan aburido na tayo sa ating mga buhay. every morning nakikinig na ko sa inyo at nagiging adik na din actually.tawa nyo pa lang ulam na! share ko lang nicole & chris papano ba ang gagawin ko sa sobrang kuripot na boyfriend ko? ang date namin sa bahay nalang palagi kasi gastos lang daw yung palabas labas. in short mas superior sya sakin dahil lumaki sya sa kamay ng mga opisyal na sundalo. ayos naman sya sa family ko at saludo naman sila. yun nga lang pag may problem kami at naiyak na ko hindi man lang sya lumalapit para comfort ako. parang wala syang ka switan sa katawan. ang reason nya, hindi daw dapat lagi pinapairal ang emosyon. anu po ba ang opinyon ninyo sa sitwasyon ko ngayon. sana matulungan ninyo ako…more power!!
