Are Pinoys leading US broadband adoption?
I came across this broadband segmentation document (Microsoft Word) from the US Internet Industry Association. Without specifying the actual ethnicities or countries of origin, the study says:
Asian-Americans who speak English are one of the most connected populations in the country, with nearly 85 percent of the English-speaking Asian-American population online. Internet penetration is significantly higher among Asian-Americans than it is for all other ethnic groups. Asian-Americans are predominantly veteran users who use the Internet more often and for a longer duration than other ethnic groups.
By comparison, only 74% of white Americans go online. How much of this Asian-American population is Pinoy? It could be those who are calling home:
Ethnic minorities were early adopters to VoIP technologies because of the low prices available for international calling.
Credit that to family ties between the US and the Philippines.

Asia is a big place. It’d be presumptious to think that people with Filipino roots makes a significant amount of Asian-Americans.
According to Wikipedia’s Filipino American article, Pinoys make up 22% of the Asian American population, second behind Chinese. See the census.
