Asus is out and about with their new all-in-one PC, the Asus Eee Monitor. And it looks like it’s challenging Apple and the iMac series. To be priced around Php22,000, these rigs could be the next hit from Asus.

No details when these will arrive in the Philippines though. Specs include — 19″ and higher, 2 USB ports, a webcam, card reader, and an ethernet port. No additional data on the CPU, HDD and memory though.

Ayusin lang nila yung wifi drivers ng linux. Palpak yung sa EEEpc. Hit and miss. Minsan kailangang idaan sa dasal.

Catchy Headline Article. If there is any truth to it.

But Seriously that EEE PC desktop doesnt have what it takes to challenge the iMac. The CPU alone for the iMac is a Intel Dual Core 3ghz. chip custom made for Apple. Plus it has lots of connection goodies like Gigabit Ethernet, Wireless N, Bluetooth, Firewire and USB. Plus a Superdrive to burn DVDs.

To achieve a realistic price tag goal of P 22,000. You probably get a slower single core cpu like the Atom. 100mb ethernet and 802.11g only. The graphics card would be a built in Intel GMA vs. a dedicated GPU. Dont expect DVD burning but maybe a Combo Drive.

Anyway I think it would a be nice idea to have affordable all-in-one like this EEE PC Monitor. It would good for Linux to go mainstream. Just dont call it an iMac Killer.
