ASUS Memo Pad, the P6,995 7-inch Android Jelly Bean tablet

Looking for a budget WiFi-only tablet but don’t want to take risks with those China-made tablets with little to no local support? Why not settle for the 7-inch ASUS Memo Pad which has silently made its way to local our local stores for just Php6,995?

Asus Memo Pad

The ASUS Memo Pad is the less-impressive version of the Google Nexus 7 but with a more budget-friendly price. It sports a single-core 1GHz VIA processor to go with 1GB of RAM to run an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS.

Internal storage is limited at 8GB but there’s room for more via a microSD slot plus a lifetime 5GB space from ASUS Webstorage. Like the Nexus 7, the Memo Pad doesn’t have a rear camera. It’s front camera is limited to 1-megapixel which is still good for HD video calling.

It’s really a tablet designed for casual use so temper your expectations if you’re planning to use this to watch your Full HD movies or play those high-end Android games. It should appeal to students out there with its youthful colors: Sugar White, Titanium Gray, and Cherry Pink.

The ASUS Memo Pad is already available in stores (like Villman) for Php6,995.

    Thanks for the info!
    OTG supported?
    3G USB stick ok?

A sales girl tried to convince me that Jelly Bean was not much better than ICS. Really? I guess I should have waited for her to swallow the food she was eating. Culture. What a stupid thing.

  2. Asus is also releasing a 10.1″ tablet (with a Tegra 3 chipset and a 2MP rear cam). hindi ko lang alam kung kelan or kung marerelease ba talaga dito sa Pinas. but the price is speculated to be somewhere around 13K to 15K when converted to peso

  3. sayang naman ang specs nito.. hindi p nila nilagyan ng rear camera.. ok na sana for the price and specs. adding a few bucks for the rear camera will be beneficial for the users.

  4. useful po ang back camera for taking pictures of receipts for records. – or anything important that you want to take a picture of.

Tablet vs DSLR = KO ang tablet in 2 seconds!!!!!!

  6. This tablet is geared toward the masses. Mukhang gusto din ng Asus ng piece of the pie pag dating sa tablets na pangmasa.

  7. I bought mine at electroworld for 7995. I shouldve seen this post earlier :(

    • di lahat ng games nauupdate kaagad sa new vesion of Android.

    1. Samsung galaxy tab 2 P3110 – P9,990 (very safe pick)
    2. Acer Aconia B1 -P 6,990 (oki yun nga lang 512mb ang RAM)
    3. Pipo U1 Pro – P6,200 (oki pero china brand with 2MP camera sa rear)
    4. Starmobile Engage HD 7 – P7,990 (specs are great pero minsan di daw tumatama ang touch mo sa screen as downside nya)
    5. Nexus 7 (32GB) – P13,995 (superb pick but without rear camera)
    6. Skyworth S71 – P5,700 (di ko pa naresearch masyado ito)

  11. Asus memopad or Samsung galaxy tab 2 P3110?

  13. Ceejhay says:

Ask ko lang kung ok to sa mga games? wala kasi akong masyadong alam sa tablet specs eh. pangbday gift ko sana sa anak ko, may nagustuhan naman ako kaso masyadong mahal eh. any suggestions kung anong magandang tablet & affordable? thanks in advance ^_^

  14. Ardie Destor says:

Im planning to buy this one, but as of the moment i’m still thinking if the Starmobile Engage 7 HD or Asus Memo Pad.. Need help if what would be the best choice.

  15. Okay po ba itong pang substitute tablet? Meron po kasi akong Nexus 7 pero parang madaling ma drain ang battery so i need a back up tablet in case madead batt ang nexus for studying especially dito sa mindanao where there are rotating brownouts.

  16. HP slate 7 is better than the ASUS MEMO PAD 7.. .the price of hp slate 7 is 169 us dollar .. it has 3.15MP REar camera , 1.3MP Front facing camera and it has a DUAL CORE .. i’m waiting for it..it will be release soon in May 1 0r june 2013 ….

  17. ASUS MEMO PAD 7 is good enough with this low price… so go for it..!!

  18. I bought mine last April 3 sa “Accent Micro”- SM Megamall. Ok naman siya gamitin. Di nakakahiyang ilabas, kasi presentable at medyo unique yung design niya. SPEC wise, for the price, im pretty contented though my lag times-especially in heavy games, talaga dahil “single processor”-(downside) lang siya. What I liked about it was the High Definition Screen, compare sa Acer Iconia B1 medyo malabo at parang china-brand yung display. Actually, medyo nahirapan ako nung una magdecide between the two. Yep, dual core ang Acer which is a good thing for running games and other apps, pero enough na rin naman yung 1GB RAM ng ASUS to support compared to 512Mb ng Acer at bukod sa parang laruan yung design-(downside), parang di siya tatagal ng taon because it was made of plastic.

Share ko lang, another good thing about this tablet. – “Asus Library Lite”, “Asus Studio”, “Asus Story” and more.

Again. “This is not a gaming tablet.” By the way, if you want a gaming tablet, na mas malaki dito at ok rin ang specs. I highly recommend “Skyworth S8″ also known as “Skypad S8″. Yan ang gamit ng mom ko ngayon. If im not mistaken, around Php 7,800.00 siya ngayon. Ok siya gamitin dual core processor. May front at back cam. And maganda resolution niya :)

So far 8/10 Rate for this tablet :)

  19. Worth the buy to.

  20. Supports OTG cable. Wala nga lang bluetooth. Smooth ang gameplay like eternity warriors o games ng glu mobile. Pwde na din sya mgng secondary pc mo using kingsoft office. Sna may official leather case lng para dito

  21. May SIM po ba ito? (sorry po, natatamad akong magback read :) )

    • Nope. Di po 3G to so walang SIM . Although useful naman siya in terms of Social Media like facebook, tweeter etc.

  22. Thanks for all your thread. I am convinced already to choose Asus memo Pad 7 instead of Acer iconia tab b1 or other tab with the same price range.
