The iPad Video Unboxing

We’ve finally gotten our hands on a brand-new Apple iPad and after a couple of weeks of waiting, here’s the unboxing video uploaded on YouTube. Since the initial demand was too large for Apple to handle, they have moved the release of the international version of the iPad by a whole month. And though the base price of the iPad is just $499, there were additional California state taxes as well. That plus shipping and the unpredictable customs charges can easily bump the final price to around Php30k when it arrives in your doorsteps. And to those asking how we’re able to acquire a unit for review, check out this site. Related posts: No related...

LG Cookie Siblings: WiFi, Pop & Ultima

The 3 new variants will sport a fresher look and design as well as added features on top of the original LG Cookie. Nokia Booklet 3G First Impressions

We were able to get our hands on a review unit of the Nokia Booklet 3G, Nokia’s first ever entry to the laptop market. Here are our first impressions of the device. The Nokia Booklet 3G is a 10-inch netbook, powered by an Intel Atom Z530 running at 1.6GHz. The Atom Z series was used to maximize the built-in 6-cell battery which promises up to 12 hours of battery life on a single charge. Only with this type of processors one can optimize battery use. The device is pretty solid and mostly made up of sturdy brushed-aluminum casing. The slim form factor and light weight makes it a perfect portable computing device on the go. Together with the Atom CPU, the Booklet 3G comes with 1 GB of RAM, 120GB of HDD, a 3G modem and GPS receiver. The last two items are a very rare combination for a netbook and it looks like Nokia is focusing on the connectivity features that will tie it up with the Ovi service. Despite its seeming standard features, the 3G/GPS connectivity coupled with an all-day battery life differentiates the Nokia Booklet 3G among all the hundreds of other netbooks out there. We’re not really sure if or when Nokia Philippines will finally release this model in the country. Our review unit came all the way from Europe so the price tag there is more like 600 euros. PayPal launches new Seller Protection for eBay Sellers

PayPal, an eBay company, yesterday announced that it is launching new protection for its Filipino eBay sellers. The new coverage will provide protection against unauthorized payments and claims for items not received for eligible items sold on eBay websites. Sellers will benefit from a new feature which alerts them of potential, high-risk transactions within moments of receiving a payment so that they don’t ship their items until the payment clears – helping them to reduce their losses. The addition of seller protection helps Philippine sellers by reducing their burdens of online risk and for making selling on eBay with PayPal even safer and easier. Seller protection is free and has no annual coverage limit. This new protection mechanism was made effective last June 15, 2009. Coverage is free. All you need to do is simply follow the rules below: When you ship your items… Be an eBay seller with a Premier/Business account registered in qualified countries. Accept only full payments from the same PayPal account (no partial payments). Receive payment via PayPal for tangible items sold on eBay. Check eligibility in your ‘Transaction Details’ by logging in to PayPal, go to your Account History and click on the ‘Details’ link next to the transaction. Ship to the buyer’s address shown on PayPal’s ‘Transaction Details’ page when the payment status indicates it’s “OK to ship” Learn more about Payment Review. All transactions are covered, except in the following cases: Digital goods (downloadable software), services or intangible items. In-person delivery or local pick-ups. Transactions for cars, boats and other vehicles. Unauthorised payments for transactions outside of eBay. Where adequate proof of shipment or delivery is not provided. Related posts: No related...

iPhone 3GS gets an upgrade

Apple unveiled an upgraded version of their iPhone, the iPhone 3G S (the S in 3G S seemed to indicate speed). Aside from bigger storage capacity (16GB and 32GB models), the iPhone 3G S also has a better built-in camera with autofocus and can record video at 30fps. Apple also claimed to have improved the battery life to last 50% longer — up to 5 hours 3G talk time, 9 hours of WiFi, and 10 hours on video playback. Then, there’s Voice Control, a Digital Compass and faster HSDPA performance of up to 7.2Mbps. The new iPhone 3GS will be available on June 19, 2009 in the US. I asked Globe executives today to comment on the iPhone 3G S but they could not give any nor provide an estimate time when the new iPhone will be available in the Philippines (although according to Apple, it will be on July 2009).
