Call your loved ones in the US and Canada for free via Gmail

Not really something new but for those who still don’t know, you can call any US and Canada number for free using Gmail. You don’t need something like Magic Jack anymore. It’s going to be Voice over IP (VoIP) so you need a headset with a mic, or maybe your laptop will do since most come with a built-in mic already. You can even put the call in speaker if you want.

Call US and Canada for Free via Gmail

To use this feature, simply log in to your Gmail account on your web browser and click the Call Phone link under the Chat section on the left sidebar. A keypad will appear and all you need to do is dial the number you wish to connect to. Reception was amazingly clear without any delays unlike using PLDT sometimes.

Just something you may want to remember when calling your loved ones this Christmas. Don’t know if it will remain free next year so better make the most out of it.

      Hi Calvin,

Why I can’t see the Call Phone button on my gmail? And here

it says that it is only available in the US.

Thanks a lot. God Bless. Merry Christmas.

      • It’s not a button but more of a text link. It’s easy to miss. Do a ctrl-f on your browser to find it. I was able to use it to call relatives in the US yesterday.

          Hi Calvin,
I really can’t find it. May be because I am in Brazil? Do you know if I can send a inquiry to Google regarding this matter? Thanks a lot. God Bless.

        • Hmmm maybe. But make sure that your Gmail’s language is set to English.
