Canon EOS M mirrorless camera finally unveiled

Better late than never. Canon has finally unveiled their own entry to the interchangeable lens camera market dominated by the likes of Sony, Panasonic and Olympus, the Canon EOS M mirrorless camera.

The Canon EOS M looks like a cross between their PowerShot G1 X and their S100 with the innards for their mid-range Canon 650D DSLR. It utilizes an 18-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, DIGIC 5 processor, and the 650D’s hybrid autofocus system for fast and accurate performance. ISO sensitivity on the EOS M ranges from 100 to 25,600 for stills and up to 12,800 when shooting video while continuous shooting mode is at 4.3 frames per second.

What’s missing is an electronic viewfinder which might turn off professional Canon DSLR users looking for a secondary, pocketable camera. What you’ll get is a high-resolution 3-inch touchscreen instead. There’s a full-size hot shoe however to support your existing Speedlite flashes and other Canon accessories like strobes, transmitters and receivers.

The Canon EOS M retails for $799.99 and comes in black or white with a 22mm pancake lens. You can also use your existing Canon EF and EF-S lenses by getting the EF-EOS M mount adapter for $199.99 (ouch).

  2. Griswold says:

Wow ang mahal naman ng mount, $200. Bad Canon. sana gumawa yung mga 3rd party lens ng mount for this na mas mura.
