2014 Mini Cooper S F56 Review

Jan 01, 15 2014 Mini Cooper S F56 Review

Posted by in Cars, Featured, Reviews

As our first car review of the year this 2015 here at Pinoy Tech Blog, we thought of reviewing something that is worth starting the year off on the right foot. Something fun, exciting,  and a spot-on head turner. We might have differences in opinion when it comes to thinking what car suites such recognition but for us, we have thought of something that a lot of people will agree on. A car that was voted to be the second most influential car in the 20th century, behind the Ford Model T — The Mini Cooper. Designed in the late 1950s as an answer to the fuel shortage happening that time. It was built to be small and economical. It has grown a lot since and when BMW group purchased the Mini in 2001, they have integrated BMW technology to the Mini models since then, aside from making it bigger than what the original size has been. Tech Features 6.5″ display entertainment system iPhone connectivity USB Bluetooth enabled AUX Wireless controls on the steering wheel Auto rain sensing wipers Auto headlights Digital automobile monitoring system and more! iPhone connectivity worked well with my iPhone 6 Plus. I used the iPhone USB cable for this and once connected, you can access Deezer for your music library and this will appear, From here on, everything you need to do on your phone to control Deezer will now be flashed on the screen. To navigate, use the “iDrive Touch Controller” in the middle portion. Since it is Bluetooth enabled, you can also listen to music via Bluetooth connection and make phone calls with it. Pairing is also easy. Simply follow the instruction flashed on the screen. The digital automobile monitoring system is also very useful. From there, you can check out the tire pressure, engine oil level, temperature and the likes. It will also tell you stuff like when you need to bring your Mini for a check-up. Safety Features Safety is a big thing for me and the Mini...

Seven reasons why we love Uber

Nov 06, 14 Seven reasons why we love Uber

Posted by in Cars, OS and Apps

Officially launched last February in Manila, Uber is an on-demand car service with roots in San Francisco and now available in 45 countries and more than 100 cities. Uber was all over the news a couple of weeks ago when LTFRB carried out a sting operation against Uber due to franchise issues, leading to an Uber Black Fortuner being fined Php 200,000. Uber has three categories: UberX for smaller vehicles, Black Car for full size luxury cars and SUVs and just recently, Uber has made available the Wheelmobile for persons with disabilities. We’re not here to put our two cents on the franchise issue so let’s dive into the reasons why we love Uber. 1) More convenient – getting your ride with Uber is easy as pie. Just set your pickup location and wait for your ride. The app lets you know the estimated time and exact location of the car so you don’t have to wait and stand outside the streets for minutes. The app also provides you with the number of the driver so you can call or text the driver for directions or exact location. Most often, after requesting a ride, I immediately get text messages or calls from the driver. With Uber, you don’t have to wait for minutes and stand in long lines or wrestle in crowded taxi stands to get your ride. 2) Clean, brand new cars – almost all Uber cars I’ve rode are brand new or less than a year old. Unlike taxis, Uber cars are clean, smells fresh and doesn’t have that cigarette smoke odors. 3) Courteous drivers – Every now and then, we experience riding taxis with the driver asking us on how to get to our destinations, circling around the streets or getting lost and asking for directions. Sometimes, we encounter irate drivers speeding up and cursing other drivers or cars on the road.  Oftentimes we end up arguing with the driver over these things, especially on the taxi meter or bill.  Uber...

Apr 25, 14 Introducing the All-New Mazda 3

Posted by in Cars

Almost six months after its global launch, Berjaya Auto Philippines, Inc today launched the All-New Mazda 3 in the Philippines. Similar to the Mazda 6, the Mazda 3 SKYACTIV features “KODO – Soul of Motion” design giving the car a flawless, forward motion look on the outside, even when stationary. Inside the cabin, the design language translates to an unconstrained, comfortable and ‘highly focused cockpit’ driving experience. The All-New Mazda 3 SKYACTIV is available in two gasoline-engine variants: Mazda 3 V SKYACTIV-G and Mazda 3 R SKYACTIV 2.0L. Both variants have SKYACTIV-DRIVE six-speed transmission with the bigger-displacement engine having an i-STOP idling system and i-ELOOP brake-energy regeneration system. Know more about the i-STOP and i-ELOOP here. The All-New Mazda 3 SKYACTIV is also the first Mazda car to feature the Human-Machine Interface (HMI). Based on Mazda’s ‘Heads-Up Cockpit’ concept, the HMI creates a driving environment that minimizes cognitive, visual, and manual distractions. Some of HMI’s features include an Active Driving Display, projecting vehicle speed and turn-by-turn directions from the navigation system onto the clear panel mounted on above the meter hood. Moreover, the Mazda 3 SKYACTIV features a ‘Commander Control’ which can be easily reached by the driver and a seven-inch center display mounted at the top of the dashboard which can be viewed with minimal eye movement. The All-New Mazda 3 SKYACTIV also packs a number of new connectivity systems for audio, communication, and navigation functions.
