Samsung Philippines officially launched the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 in the country. Inspired by the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge’s premium design, the Galaxy Note 5 ditched the faux leather/plastic back cover and now features a full metal body with its front and back panel protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The back is also now curved, offering a better grip and easier access to the enhanced S-Pen, which features a new click-to-pull-out system. Cherry Mobile G1 Android One First Impressions

Aug 11, 15 Cherry Mobile G1 Android One First Impressions

Posted by in Gadgets, Mobile, Reviews, Tech News, The Internet

The Cherry Mobile G1 launched yesterday, together with the presence of Google executives. It’s the second Google phone under the Android One initiative under the Cherry Mobile brand. What makes this different is the Android One label distinguishing this phone from other Android devices. The back panel uses the same plastic material that is smooth to hold as most of the Cherry Mobile phones do.  Camera has a black shiny bezel around it and both, with the LED flash is dead on center. The best part about the design is the 2 chrome stripes on the side, going around the device from top to bottom. It gives the device a more premium feel to it. The Dragontrail glass upfront promises a tougher exterior and is said to be resistant to scratches. With a 5-inch (1280×720) IPS display, it made the graphics much crisper and sharper. The 3 buttons at the bottom is incorporated in the LCD screen and not as resistive touch buttons. At the top portion is the 3.5mm headphone jack positioned at about 1/3 from the left. At the right side is the power button and volume control buttons while at the bottom is the MicroUSB port and the speaker grills. Overall, it has improved a lot if you compare it with the first released Android One device in terms of processing speed, camera, and now, this even has LTE connectivity! It’s good that this device has a 2-year Google support as ‘update support’ tends to be the problem with local units. Android One’s vision is to empower the majority of the citizens in developing nations with these affordable smartphones and with the introduction of this new competitive device, it now brings more light to the Android One project making affordable powerful smartphones a reality.  Cherry Mobile G1 will be available for purchase starting (est) around late August to early September of 2015 with SRP of 5,999 pesos.  Cherry Mobile G1 Specs: OS Android Lollipop 5.1.1 CPU 1.2 GHz Quad Core Snapdragon MSM8916...

Cherry Mobile G1 Android One priced at Php 5,999

Aug 10, 15 Cherry Mobile G1 Android One priced at Php 5,999

Posted by in Gadgets, Mobile

Cherry Mobile has just unveiled its second Android One smartphone, the Cherry Mobile G1. Cherry Mobile uploaded a teaser of the Cherry Mobile One’s successor last week on their Facebook page and while we were thrilled about the announcement, it also kept us from speculating if it will carry significant improvements, particularly an LTE capability which is absent in most Android One smartphones in the market today. The good news is that the new Cherry Mobile G1 Android One smartphone now has 4G LTE capability and has greatly improved over its predecessor with a larger display, faster processor, improved optics and bigger battery capacity. The Cherry Mobile G1 will be available two weeks from now with a retail price of Php 5,999. Cherry Mobile G1 Specs: OS Android Lollipop 5.1.1 CPU 1.2 GHz Quad Core Snapdragon MSM8916 64 bit GPU Adreno 306 Display 5-inch HD IPS On-cell screen Dragon Trail Glass Memory 16GB ROM 2GB RAM Connectivity LTE, WiFi, BT 4.0 SIM Slot Dual SIM Camera 13MP BSI Rear Camera with Dual LED Flash 5MP BSI Front Camera Battery 2500 mAh     Related posts: No related...

Quick Review of the Motorola X (2nd Generation)

Aug 09, 15 Quick Review of the Motorola X (2nd Generation)

Posted by in Android, Mobile, Reviews, Tech News

A few weeks back after the official Philippine launch of the Motorola X, we got to try the Motorola X, the flagship model of Motorola. Soon, they will be launching more units here locally and their goal is to simultaneously launch with other countries. For less than 20,000 pesos (priced at Php 16,999), this phone is set to get back their following locally. First Impressions The phone looks solid and premium. It has a slight curve at the back which reminded me of the LG G3 and G4. The matte rubber back cover cannot be detached though so let’s just  hope that when time comes, it won’t be sticky. If you are accustomed to huge phones like me, you will find it a bit uncomfortable to hold just because this is smaller in size and there is a fear of accidentally dropping it. That is quite subjective though. Other than that, overall, it looks great and feels great touching the materials used on this phone. The power button is located on the upper right side of the device. It’s comfortable to press and easy to reach as this has only 5.2” screen. Holding the phone, you can easily unlock it using one hand, as well as control the volume or press the power button. You can almost touch any part of the screen with just using one hand. The power button has ridges that easily differentiates itself from the smooth volume rocker which is located below it. No other physical buttons other than those two exists. To make the phone smaller, Motorola placed the soft buttons on screen (compared to how Samsung usually does it via capacitive touch buttons). Performance According to Antutu tests, the Motorola X scored 45,545 and basing it on the ranking table, it ranks better than the HTC One M8 and the new Xiaomi MI4. Not far from it is the Asus Zenfone 2 which got around 46,621. But as I always say, these scores cannot beat the actual experience. Using it for more than 2...
