Plextor brings new M6e PCIe SSD for local gaming community

May 09, 14 Plextor brings new M6e PCIe SSD for local gaming community

Posted by in Accessories & Peripherals, Gaming

Digital storage technology company Plextor recently unveiled its new M6e PCIe SSD drive meant to address the rising demands of gamers for speed performance, reliability, and compatibility. Manufactured in Japan, the M6e PCIe SSD uses high-bandwidth components to deliver uninterrupted gameplay. It combines the driver-free ACHI support with the compatibility of selectable legacy BIOS or fast UEFI boot. It is also optimized for gaming applications. The M6e comes in 128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB capacities. “Modern games push systems to their limits, by getting data from storage to the graphics card and into RAM fast, even under heavy load, the M6e makes the gameplay experience smoother and better. We’ve also optimized the M6e to perform smoothly with a large variety of games so it’s suitable for use by all types of players,” said M6e Product Manager Zhang Yaping. Plextor has placed a full five-year warranty on M6e based on its product test results and quality control. Plextor’s Zero-Failure Zero-Error mass testing standard on M6e resulted to an MTBF (mean time between failures) of 2.4 million calculated hours. For stability issues, every individual SSD faces an extended high-temperature burn-in test and usage simulation. The Plextor M6e delivers maximum sequential read/write speeds of 770/625 MB/s and random read/write speeds of 105K/100K IOPS. The PCIe Gen2x2 interface bypasses the SATAIII bottleneck, includes the latest server-grade multicore Marvell 88SS9183 controller with native PCI 2.0 support, and a pre-graded high performance Toshiba Toggle NAND flash. And with the Advanced Host Controller Interface (ACHI) support, Plextor M6e promises high-performing PCIe SSD without the need to load propriety drivers. Compatibility with legacy BIOSes allows the M6e to be used with existing gaming rigs for flexibility. Alternatively selecting the UEFI boot mode for motherboards with UEFI provides fast start-up times. Check out Plextor’s website for more. Related posts: No related...

Flappy Bird Creator Taking Down the Game Tomorrow

Feb 09, 14 Flappy Bird Creator Taking Down the Game Tomorrow

Posted by in Gaming

Flappy Bird creator Dong Nguyen earlier today Tweeted that he’s taking down the game tomorrow. Nguyen didn’t provide additional information as to why he’s withdrawing the hit app but stated that his action is not caused by legal issues. I am sorry 'Flappy Bird' users, 22 hours from now, I will take 'Flappy Bird' down. I cannot take this anymore. — Dong Nguyen (@dongatory) February 8, 2014 It is not anything related to legal issues. I just cannot keep it anymore. — Dong Nguyen (@dongatory) February 8, 2014 Released last May 2013, Flappy Bird first gained popularity on iPhone users before taking the mobile gaming by storm and bagging the top spot for being the most downloaded free gaming app both on the App Store and Google Play the past couple of weeks. Although being offered for free, the blockbuster app is reportedly earning $50,000 daily in ad revenue. Despite the profit, Nguyen has hinted that he’s feeling the drawbacks of his app’s success as some people are accusing him of ripping off other popular games. Nguyen’s sudden decision comes as a surprise as an update for the game was even released yesterday. Related posts: No related...

Top 5 Reasons Why Free Android Arcade Game Flappy Bird is Loved and Hated

Feb 02, 14 Top 5 Reasons Why Free Android Arcade Game Flappy Bird is Loved and Hated

Posted by in Gaming, Software

Flappy Bird is a free Android sidescroller game that has been making waves in Google Play recently since its January 30 launch. It has been out since last year in iOS but I only found out about this game through word-of-mouth. It instantly got me hooked just by looking at the gameplay. Read below to see why people are getting crazy over this 8-bit bird. Loved: The Download size With a download package of less than a megabyte, the game is instantly accessed and played without a long waiting time. You can easily delete the game without guilt, and download it again if you start feeling the withdrawal symptoms from tapping the screen. Loved/Hated: The Game Controls The game control system is similar to Jetpack Joyride. Tap the screen to make the bird flap its wings and that’s it. That’s all the game can feature (right now), and its simplicity is either loved or hated by its users simple because of the sensitivity and the lack of other controls. Overall, this is one of the main reasons why I personally love this game – one simple function that is challenging to master. Loved/Hated: The Reward and Punishment system The goal of the game is to avoid the pipes while the screen moves forward, forcing you to tap with precision so you can avoid as much pipes as possible. Hitting a pipe leaves you with the ‘Game Over’ screen, and it’s up to you if you want to try again, or just call it a day. Each pipe gives you 1 point, and your highest score is recorded for reference for your next try.  There’s a ranking system tied up with Google accounts if you want to see the scoreboard with other players. Loved: The 8-bit Nostalgia Flappy Bird is presented with 8-bit nostalgic graphics that literally reminds you of arcade retro games. The pipes alone remind you of Super Mario, along with a background that changes with a day and night time scenery. Loved: ...
