Apple kicked off its WWDC conference earlier today, announcing a slew of updates to its products and services including the OS X El Capitan, iOS 9, and the introduction of the company’s own music streaming service. OS X El Capitan The Cupertino giant kicked off its keynote by introducing the OS X El Capitan (10.11), the successor to Yosemite which brings a pack of improvements under the hood. Notable improvements include a faster system performance, which touts opening apps up to 40% faster and  a 100% increase in speed when switching windows. A split-screen options is also now available for the OS, as well as the addition of the spaces bar to create more desktops. OS X El Capitan begins its development preview today and will be on release sometime later this year. iOS 9 The next-generation mobile OS from Apple, the iOS 9, is said to be able to make your phone usage last an hour longer with under-the-hood refinements. It also features a completely redesigned Siri with new options for image search. Siri also presents itself with a list of suggested contacts and apps you can choose based on your usage patterns. Typed search queries deliver more results, such as results for math equations. In iPad, the iOS 9 wil bring a split-screen feature called can make you use two apps at the same time. Slide Over, on the other hand, can switch your open apps without leaving the other app and is pretty similar to how it’s implemented in Windows 8’s app switching. You can also use other apps while doing Facetime calls, and typing is easier with the new shortcut bar. It touts to put the entire Apple Music catalog at your fingertips across your favorite devices. Leaks of the iPhone 6S release date has been revealed by an email sent to a Vodafone internal staff. The leak indicates that the iPhone 6S will go on sale starting September 25. However, the email did not mention the ‘iPhone 6S’ as the device was just labeled as the “new iPhone”, giving a number of Apple fans some hopes on seeing an iPhone 7 instead, during the launch. Samsung’s new flagships are said to be doing well, and rumors have it that the Korean tech giant is preparing to launch a larger version dubbed as the Project Zen 2 or most likely called the Galaxy S6 Plus. Sporting a few points larger at 5.5 inches compared to the 5.1 inch display of the original device, the S6 Plus carrying the model number SM-G928 will perhaps be a merge of the two flagships in one as it is reportedly equipped with a Super AMOLED dual-edge curved display, 32GB internal storage, 16MP and 5MP front and back cameras, as powered by a hexacore Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor. The new report also reveals that this new device will be unveiled earlier of this year’s IFA. Word has it: After its surprising participation at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona that showcased two new Windows Phones before it hit local markets, local smartphone brand Cherry Mobile is set to make another appearance at an international tech expo, this time at Taiwan’s Computex starting tomorrow. This announcement comes off from their Facebook page, the same way they announced their particpation at the MWC back in March. Among those that CM will be presenting are its low-cost Windows Phone and Intel-powered offerings. This is the first time we’ve seen Cherry Mobile banner its participation with Intel, a sign that new devices may be showcased using Intel’s new mobile processors. Gionee is reportedly working on a smartphone equipped with two 3000mAh batteries. Yes, you heard it right. That’s two 3000mAh batteries with an incredible combined capacity of 6000mAh. The smartphone, first leaked as Gionee M5 thru TENAA, a telecommunications equipment certification center in China, promises up to four days battery life on a single charge. The batteries can also be used separately, giving you a continuous battery power. The Gionee M5 is rumoured to have a 720p AMOLED display, 1.3 Ghz quad-core processor, 2gb of RAM, 16gb internal storage expandable up to 128 GB via micro SD, an 8 megapixel rear and 5 megapixel front facing cameras and comes pre-installed with Android 5.0 Lollipop. Measuring at 152 x 76 x 8.6mm, the Gionee M5 is listed to weigh 213 grams. The M5 will be available in Black, White, and Gold colour variants. We might see Motorola jump on the QHD bandwagon this year as two flagship devices leak sporting Quad-HD resolution screen displays, and two of Qualcomm’s top-tier SoCs. These two devices, according to reddit user AndroidLeaks, are currently being tested in Chicago, a sign that it may be launched in the near future. One of those devices, modeled with the number Moto XT1578 and is codenamed Clark. It sports a 5.25-inch QHD display, amounting to a resolution of a whopping 560ppi. It’s said to be built with the hexa-core Snapdragon 808 chipset and offers NFC along with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. Another device with the model number Moto XT1585 and codenamed Kinzie, on the other hand, has a 4.6-inch QHD panel, enabling it to achieve a higher pixel density of 640ppi. It also runs on Android Lollipop, albeit using a much higher octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chip. Sony today introduced its latest addition to the Xperia Z series and a follow-up to its flagship smartphone, the Sony Xperia Z3+. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 64-bit Octa Core processor, the Xperia Z3+ is slim and lightweight, measuring just 6.9mm thin and weighing at just 144g. The premium smartphone features an ultra-bright 5.2-inch Full HD smart adaptive display with TRILUMINOS for mobile, Live Colour LED and X-Reality technology for sharper and more vivid colours.
