Globe Telecom is pushing for the commercial launch of their WiMax service before the end of the 4th quarter of 2008. Globe CEO Gerry Ablaza, Jr. relayed the plans on their latest investor relations report:

New owners of Nokia E66 and E71 will be surprised to get 2 months of free WiFi from hundreds of Airborne Access hotspots nationwide. Nokia partnered with AA once again to offer free WiFi to their ESeries phones.

Last Saturday, Globe Telecoms rolled out its new time-based charging for all mobile internet usage — GPRS, 3G, HSDPA. This new charging is now available on all pre-paid and postpaid Globe users – Php 5 pesos for every 15 minutes. Basically, the same charging as Smart 3G’s 10 pesos per 30 minutes.
