Cherry Mobile releases Flare update, fixes G-sensor among other things
Good news to all Cherry Mobile Flare users, here’s the software update that you’ve probably been waiting for. This update strictly for the 4-inch Flare will be fix the inaccurate G-sensor, add the missing FM Radio app, and allows auto-rotate for SMS.
To update your handset, Download the Flare Software Update (146MB) and do the following:
- Save the update file to the root of the SD card. Turn off the phone. Make sure phone is charged atleast 15%.
- Press and hold Power+volume Up for a few seconds. It will display first a green screen.
- Release the button after the screen shows a red display to show the Android sytem revocery.
- Select apply update from external storage’ and select the update file. Use volume keys to select and power key to confirm.
- The phone will update. After update is finish, select reboot system now.
Note: SD Card update will not erase multimedia files like photos. It will just erase saved application. It is also advisable to do Factory data reset after doing SD card update.

gud pm, paano ko malalaman kung sa external sd card sya ma-save? yun ba yung sa “other” choice tapos, sd? nag-try ako pero wla naming update ako nkita na update file, patulong naman. salamat

hi kakadownload ko lang ng update..
from doon sa recovery mode. anong file doon ang irurun? ang visible lang kasi na file are recovery, system, meta-inf.

fix na din ba yung “unread messages bug”? bug sya na narereciv mo yung msg BUT unfortunately d mo sya mkkta sa inbox mo BUT nsa notification n meron kang unread msg
I never experienced this “unread message bug” even with the old firmware. i’\ve been using the flare .for.2.months.now.

The Update messed up my gapps. annoying prompt “Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped.” all google apps crashed.
i already wipe/cleared data memory of all google connected apps disabled sync and done factory reset still the problem was not eliminated.
Fortunately i was able to temporarily fix the problem by disabling gtalk and installing an update for the “googleservicesframework” (download googleservicesframework.apk and hit install) then gapps were back to normal.
Note: turning off your phone will erase the update you made for googleservicesframework. Just install the googleservicesframework update again.
i didn’t experience this after the update. My google account is synced. i can use google talk etc without any problems.
Hi. Done updating. I didnt use factory reset so i did saved my existing fapps file.
The problem is, my ext sd card (SD_CARD) folder became readable access only.
How to fix this pls?

my gsensor was fixed able to play temple run with ease.
Try to re-calibrate gsensor.( go to system settings – display settings) This method would mean trial and error. Just try your luck.

Kamusta po pag update ng flare sa v.37? Hindi naman po ba naghahang un unit? Inverted po kasi video calling ko, sabi nila v37 will fix the issue kaya lang inaalala ko baka po bumabal or maghang un sa update.tnx po

Install ka lang ng juice defender tatagal ng 4hours on wifi or playing games at 3days naman on standby mode.

Hi, bakit po wala naman po nagbago sa firmware ko… ang update po ba na ito ay 4.0.4 pa rin? Wala naman pong na-add na FM app sa phone ko at wala nag bago sa sensor… tnx…
good day. ask ko lang if anyone experience this. nagsaksak ako ng SD card sa Flare ko 4gb sandisk cia tpos tinsransfer ko lahat ng files ko sa Sd card gamit yung Link2sd nakaroot na din kasi ako, then natransfer naman ng maayos but after ilang minutes na corrupt sd card ko nadamaged daw cia or blank kahit ilang turn off’s ko. ayun di ko lang alam kung paano to sosolusyunan.

Guys, SM North and SM Cubao released new batches of CM Flare last weekend. I got one from SM North during their Great Northern Sale. I just dont know if they still have stocks until now. I went there 9AM last friday. They also have a Service Center there that offers FREE update of FM radio, G-sensor and message autorotate which has been a problem to the previous release of Flares.

Updated na ang flare ko to version 37. Walang hangs ako na experience since day 1 of update. I’ve been using my updated flare for more than 3 weeks and I’m really satisfied. All known issues of flare are now history. The only downside of flare is its battery,. =(

Good day po mga sir, nag-download po ako ng flare update through my computer, i-save ko na sa SDcard ko, kailangan ba internet connected ang flare mo kapag mag-update ka na? computer ko lang kasi ang may internet eh, wala po kasi wifi ang connection ko, please help,, thank you so much po,,,,
Hello fellow Flare owners,
Share ko lang po on how to successfully update your flares, especially to those who are not acquainted with the processes involved.
First, download the file from CM’s website; particularly from Flare’s product page where you will see the file download link.
Second, just follow the instructions stated on that page.
Third (important) — transfer the file (if using PC) to your SD card, DO NOT PUT IT INSIDE ANY FOLDER — this will make it alot easier to locate the update file when you’re in recovery mode. Same is true if you are using your Flare to download the update, place it on the root folder of your sd card.
That’s it! just be sure to read (and understand) the instructions well and you’ll be fine.
I have just updated mine and so far so good, the FM app is now available.
As for the gyro, I’m not quite there yet as I don’t have Temple Run installed to check.

The disappearing SD Card issue is a Power/Voltage issue! In example -> Your GTA3 needs to install additional files on the SD Card. During that process your SD Card gets underpowered and disappears as you can discover in any filemanager. This happens also on some HD Games, since they get their data from the card too. Especially long access to the SD can cause a crash. A temporary workaround is to keep your Cherry Mobile Flare connected to the charger. Not fine, I know, but since I dont know how to manipulate the SD Cards Voltage, it has to work this way. And just to mention, The Problem is not appearing on all SD Cards in the market. Mostly the high range priced Memory Cards Class 6 and up, which needs a bit more juice. I may be wrong on the last point, but how else could I explain, that some people with SD do not have this issue?

Rooted na po ba after ng update? pano po i remove yung bloatwares like click the city gmail etc?
