Chikka is alive and back with new features
Pinoy-made IM messenger Chikka is definitely alive and will be back with a new version come August 25, 2010. In a briefing with the bloggers last night, CHIKKA.com announced that they will be rolling out a new version of the Chikka Text Messenger two weeks from now.
Chikka founder and Chief Imagination Officer, Dennis Mendiol and CEO Chito Bustamante were eager to announce that this locally made Internet Messaging platform will be available soon with similar packages like with our telco’s such as unlimited texting for a day or off-peak rates. Also, Chikka app for iPhone, Blackberry and Android phones will also be available very soon.
The Chikka Text Messenger Version 5, can now work with Google Talk and is also compatible with popular OS like Windows, Linux and Mac.
Chikka is a Y2K baby making it a 10-year old IM app which has served over 68 million people who registered either online or via mobile phone. They focused their investment on their back-end to come up and be competitive in the market already full of instant messaging services.
“In 2010, there were over 16 million visits to the Chikka site from 215 countries during a one month period,” CIO Dennis Mendiola said. “Even though there were a lot of technological advancements in the communications industry, Chikka still remains to be the preferred communications tool for Global Pinoys,” he adds.
So for Pinoys overseas, check out the new version of Chikka Text Messenger on Aug. 25! Sending a message is still FREE with Chikka, while P2.50 will be charged to the one who replies via SMS. Do watch out for their upcoming promos though for cheaper rates.
