Chikka now works with Sun Cellular

Quite old news. As of November 19, 2005, PC-to-mobile SMS messenger Chikka already works with Sun Cellular. From the media release,

Close to 20 million Chikka users, a significant sector of which are overseas Filipinos who are on-line via the Internet, are now able to send text messages freely to friends and loved ones who are Sun subscribers in the Philippines. While free PC-to-Sun Cellular messages are limited, a reply from a Sun “buddy” from his mobile would replenish these credits.

This ups Chikka’s SMS connectivity to all three major mobile providers.

However, one gripe I have is that the daily allocation for sending SMS to Sun is only four messages, while for Globe and Smart, it’s 30 and 20 per day, respectively. Your correspondents would have to respond (and spend the PhP 2.50 per message) in order to replenish your credits.

Still, this is a good development!

By the way, Chikka also has connectivity with several US, Japan, India-based cellular providers.

My guess it’s only now that Sun Cellular is opening up to third-party mobile VAS. Previously they had their own in-house operation.

works with, or work in partnership with..?

“works with” means one company; “work in partnership with”, two different companies, one mission..

you know what, forget about it.. papapansin lang..

Means the Chikka messenger software can now send to Sun phones.

So perhaps it’s safe to also say that the two are in some sort of partnership.

My title was quite ambiguous, eh? ;)

You need an agreement with the cellular company, even just to send a single ringtone.
