They call it the earth’s first pre-paid online advertising platform. You can now advertise at Friendster Philippines for as low as Php 20. The ads seems to be a one-liner text ad from the screenshots that I’ve seen. (FADs are shown on all pages of Friendster Classifieds which started with pusit.com, a Friendster Classifieds Filipino community.)
FADs is currently an invite-only service so one needs to get an invitation from one of their active advertisers. I’m a little curious on how this works so if any of you is an active subscriber, please throw me an invite so we can test this a little further. (You may want to share some feedback too.)
Payment for FADs can be sent thru Smart Money, Globe G-Cash and bank deposits to any Banco de Oro branch.
They have a blog here but it hasn’t been updated since 3 months ago. It’s also being plagued with lots of confused comments (I think this is a bug or something) and hundreds of spam trackbacks.
More on this if and when I get my invite.

[...] I was doing a quick post over at Pinoy.Tech.Blog about “Friendster Ads for Php20” when I stumble upon their stats that claim there are 5 Million Filipino Friendster users. [...]
on a relevant matter about friendster, if you click their Trust E logo where they claim that they dont send spams and sell email addresses, it’ll take you directly to the Trust E site saying that “www.friendster.com IS NOT A VALID TRUSTe MEMBER WEB SITE”, url here “https://www.truste.org/ivalidate.php?url=www.friendster.com”
Many unscrupulous sites just slap on a TRUSTe image with a link to the TRUSTe site. Most people take this for granted and don’t bother to check the validity.
BTW, as of this comment posting, there seems to be no TRUSTe logo/link at friendster.com. Looks like they took it out already. Did their certification expire or something? Maybe they’re not trustworthy after all (see my post on the MySpace business model).
Oh, and don’t forget to check out the Atrocities of Friendster series.
there is a link (on friendster), clikc on the “edit your profile link”, a little on the left, and there you are, the trust e logo..
poor bastards, ddnt know what hit them..
Search mo nalang sa friendster yung founder ng Pusit (Terence Pua) … =)

[...] Just got an email invitation from Friendster Ads (FADS) with a free credit of Php50 which is equivalent to 625 ad impressions. Though I don’t remember signing up for a beta tester, I do remember visiting the site before when I blogged about FADs at PTB last January. [...]
[...] We were fortunate enough to be able to beta-test the new FAds program (Friendster Ads) andget some free credits to road test the system. Friendster Ads allow you to advertise your products and services to the entire Friendster population on a CPM pricing scheme. (We reported about it here last January.) [...]
[...] After we did a trial run on Friendster Ads (FAds), I thought it would be good to follow-up with some stats results on our ad-ventures. Remember that FAds’ model is CPM so you pay for the number of eyeballs or ad impresisons on their community site as opposed to CPC like AdSense or YPN. [...]
[...] 3. Even if they can monetize the Asian eyeballs, will they survive ? “You can now advertise at Friendster Philippines for as low as Php 20″ – isnt that an indicative number? [...] Unfortunately, the number of local users – 5 million? – has not translated into financial success for them. One early move was to go mobile with a SMS version in partnership with local mobile operators and the Entertainment Gateway Group, a content provider In early 2005, Friendster made the deal with pusit.com to put up Friendster Classifieds based on the Pusit platform. They then announced an ad product, but didn’t have a test product for months. It didn’t perform very well and was apparently pulled out. [...]
