Friendster Ads for Php20

They call it the earth’s first pre-paid online advertising platform. You can now advertise at Friendster Philippines for as low as Php 20. The ads seems to be a one-liner text ad from the screenshots that I’ve seen. (FADs are shown on all pages of Friendster Classifieds which started with pusit.com, a Friendster Classifieds Filipino community.)

FADs is currently an invite-only service so one needs to get an invitation from one of their active advertisers. I’m a little curious on how this works so if any of you is an active subscriber, please throw me an invite so we can test this a little further. (You may want to share some feedback too.)

Payment for FADs can be sent thru Smart Money, Globe G-Cash and bank deposits to any Banco de Oro branch.

They have a blog here but it hasn’t been updated since 3 months ago. It’s also being plagued with lots of confused comments (I think this is a bug or something) and hundreds of spam trackbacks.

More on this if and when I get my invite. :D

  1. on a relevant matter about friendster, if you click their Trust E logo where they claim that they dont send spams and sell email addresses, it’ll take you directly to the Trust E site saying that “www.friendster.com IS NOT A VALID TRUSTe MEMBER WEB SITE”, url here “https://www.truste.org/ivalidate.php?url=www.friendster.com”

  2. Many unscrupulous sites just slap on a TRUSTe image with a link to the TRUSTe site. Most people take this for granted and don’t bother to check the validity.

BTW, as of this comment posting, there seems to be no TRUSTe logo/link at friendster.com. Looks like they took it out already. Did their certification expire or something? Maybe they’re not trustworthy after all (see my post on the MySpace business model).

  3. there is a link (on friendster), clikc on the “edit your profile link”, a little on the left, and there you are, the trust e logo..
