Friendster’s new $20M funding & ex-Googler CEO

Fresh from an announcement that Friendster Philippines’ mobile content partner Entertainment Gateway Group being acquired by Globe Telecom, Friendster itself announced a new round of funding for the amount of $20 Million.

Likewise, it will focus more on Asia where SEA alone attracts more than a 3rd of Friendster’s total traffic. In the Philippines, there’s an estimated 10 Million Filipino Friendster users (out of the total 75 million worldwide).

Friendster’s new CEO is Richard Kimber, the former regional managing director of South Asia for Google.
