Globe brings out nano-SIMs for early iPhone 5 adaptors

Apple’s iPhone 5 became available in some parts of the world over the weekend and it was already expected that a lot of Filipinos will somehow get this latest Apple product before it gets here. Most likely, these people sourced their iPhone 5 from Hong Kong and Singapore.

To supplement their purchase, Globe has released their nano-SIMs in the market over the weekend well ahead of their official iPhone 5 launch. Aside from the having a taller form, the iPhone 5 also makes use of the smaller nano-SIM card which is 40% smaller than the micro-SIM. It’s the only phone to make use of the new SIM standard as of the moment.

Globe is offering the nano-SIM for free to new postpaid subscribers and existing postpaid subscribers as replacement. For prepaid subscribers, all you can do is get a new nano-SIM for Php40.

The iPhone 5 is expected to be launched by telcos by November according to top Filipino tech blog site, Yugatech. In the meantime, there’s still the gray market for your local source of iPhone 5.
