Globe Telecom launches Globe Labs

This afternoon, Globe Telecom launched Globe Labs which is primarily tasked to bring in the latest information and communication technologies at the earliest market-relevant time to customers.

As a new department inside Globe, this group is designed to build future technology development test beds.

“As our first effort in Globe Labs, we have just concluded our 3G Multimedia Challenge, which garnered a lot of attention from developers and schools.” said Fernando Teodoro, Innovations Development Division Head at Globe.

The 3G Multimedia Challenge launched last January 31, 2008 invited developers to a contest in voip, mobile gaming, IM, whiteboard, social networking and m-learning using the SIP/IMS (Session Initiation Protocol/IP Multimedia Subsystem).

Winners in this contest include D3System, Inc., students from the Ateneo de Manila and eScience Corporation.
