Spotted: Myphone Infinity Lite 2

We were able to spot MyPhone’s newest handset, the Infinity Lite 2, on one of their kiosks in a prominent shopping mall, and spent a few minutes fiddling with it. It’s worth noting that there are two versions of the device, and we were only able to catch with one since both are identical in form factor and almost all hardware inside. Here’s what we can say about our first look of the device.

We tried the white variant sporting 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage, but were not able to remove its plastic casing due to kiosk restrictions.

First off, the Infinity Lite 2 feels really lightweight. It’s not one of the thinnest devices we’ve seen, but its slim profile can be compared to a few previous releases such as the A888 a few years ago. Sporting a glossy polycarbonate shell with aluminium sides, the device is easy to hold, but its near-flat form factor may be hard to retain holding for some. Despite the impression that it’s made with a unibody shell, there are small gaps at the top and bottom of the device, which is an indication that it can be removed.

Identifying where’s which, all the volume and power rockers are laid on the aluminum-laden right side. The 3.5mm audio port lays on top, while the microUSB sits at the bottom. At the back is the 13MP rear camera which protrudes a bit, given the slim form factor of the device. Beside it is the LED Flash, and below are the loudspeakers.

At 294ppi, the screen looks crisp despite the HD resolution. Capacitive buttons are now ditched in favor of on-screen ones, and it looks aesthetically pleasing. It’s worth noting that MyPhone’s new skin over Android 4.4 KitKat has no app drawer; thus, all apps are placed on the home screen, and it is reminiscent of other Android OS skins like Lewa or MIUI.
