Huawei Honor set to arrive next week with an SRP of P13,999

Just got back from the launch of the Huawei Honor earlier where we also get to touch and feel this mid-range Android phone that the company claims can give you 3 days of battery life. This phone is set to arrive next week with a friendly price tag of Php13,999.

For the uninitiated, the Huawei Honor is a 4-inch 1.4GHz single-core phone that feels, well mid-range. There’s nothing special with its design. The 10.9mm thickness is just average and the blocky form doesn’t make it look thin as they’re advertising it to be. It reminds me of the LG Optimus Black in terms of plainness with the textured back of a few Samsung Galaxy phones. But I’m glad that 4-inch phones are creeping in the mid-range space.

Everything is quite average really which fits the mid-range category for smartphones. It has a 1GB storage which is expandable via microSD and 512MB RAM. It does, however, have an 8-megapixel camera that can do 720p video recording and a 2-megapixel camera up front. Definitely, worth the price you’re paying it for. It also comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread with the ICS update coming next quarter.

What Huawei is boasting about the Honor is the battery life which they say can go up to 3 days with normal use, and even 3 weeks on standby. This is due to the 1930mAh battery and a power saving feature (software-based) they have on their phone.

The Honor also comes with a 16GB cloud storage and a service they called Cloud+ where you can backup and restore your phone’s data, locate your phone in case it gets stolen, and do a remote wipe if needed.

The Huawei Honor will arrive in stores next week with an SRP of Php13,999. I was expecting a 15k price but am glad it will go for 14k. The closest competition would be the slightly cheaper, thinner and brighter LG Optimus Black.

1.4GHz Single-core Qualcomm MSM8255T S2 Snapdragon
Adreno 205 GPU
4-inch TFT FWVGA (854 x 480) display

    I hope the battery really lasts long. Perhaps in the future Huawei can implement this in all of their devices and leverage this to earn some market share. Last time I checked wala pang Android smartphone in the market that lasts more than a day with average use (except for the new Droid Razr/ Maxx).

    Mid range devices with excellent battery life? Sounds good to me.

        * i mean 2 days.

        • well iba naman yung mga entry level. low-powered talaga and smaller screen kaya dapat masmatagal battery life nun. hehehe.

  • Yup… when i learned that it’s a software thing, I asked them if they’re going to implement it in their mediapad and upcoming phones, oo daw. 🙂

    My Xperia Neo V lasts 2 days with moderate use. Ewan ko lang ngaung andito na si simsimi…..try nyo ang lupit ng mga sagot nya, hehehe. Anyways, i think the Huawei Honor’s price is good considering its specs, i’m just a bit skeptical about its screen. If it can be at par with my Neo V, then i think the price is well worth it.

    I love my Huawei Honor very much. Nagagamit ko sya nag 2 days even though the battery is below 20% at kahit soundtrip ako ng sountrip is hindi sya mabilis mabawasan ng battery life. at isa pa is hindi mo na kailangan mag download ng link2sd para ma move ang mga apps sa sd card hindi gaya ng galaxy y ko. i love Huawei very much…… Next target Huawei ascend P2 LTE, ill ask my mom to buy it for me as a gift. i got my huawei from qatar my mom package it to me and ICS na sya nung nabili nila
