i don't even think podcasting has reached its peak yet. there are numerous podcasts out there that can cater to very specific interests. its actually a very big part of my life because i'm on the road most of the time. instead of listening to the radio, i get to listen to the stuff that i really like. i believe its a new form of media that will change our perception on how we want content to reach us.

I used to consume at least 1 to 2 hours of podcasts everyday, going to work and during idle time. I listen to mostly technical stuff. But now I find myself needing the silent time to make my mind concentrate on other matters. Listening to podcasts, sometimes just idle chatters from the speakers, doesn't give my mind idle time to digest ideas and come up with creative solutions.

Also, nowadays the choice of podcasts for every topic is simply too numerous to keep up with. So now I listen to podcast very rarely.

Podcasts can be greatly improved, as you said, by simply adding transcripts for those of us who want to skip to the best parts. :)
