Lenovo S880, dual-SIM goodness on a 5-inch Android phone

Earlier today, we got a sneak preview of Lenovo’s upcoming dual-SIM Android phone. Lenovo Mobile upped the ante on the screen size of dual-SIM phones with the 5-inch Lenovo S880. Yes, if you think their 4-inch Lenovo P700 can satiate your screen size cravings, you can get more out of the S880.

The Lenovo S880 is currently Lenovo Mobile’s flagship model which is positioned to be a mid0range dual-SIM phone and a multimedia device rolled into one. It is equipped with Lenovo Sound technology to power its dual speakers (top and bottom) for decent volume levels without distorting the sound.

The 5-inch screen only gives you an 800×480 WVGA resolution so don’t expect ultra-sharp icons like what you see from big high-end phones in the market. It does run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with a few Lenovo UI customizations.

Powering the S880 is a single-core 1GHz processor along with 512 MB RAM. Internal storage is limited to 4GB but there’s the microSD option for additional space. The S880 has a 5-megapixel camera and a VGA front camera as well. Sadly, no flash for the camera.

One thing you don’t have to worry too much with this phone is battery life. The S880 boasts of a 2250mAh battery which is shorter than their P700’s 2500mAh but still above average for single-core phones.

We were told that the Lenovo S880 will be available in the market mid-September with a price of Php14,999. It will come in either black which has a textured back or white and its glossy back. It may not wow you with its specs but if you’re looking for a big dual-SIM phone without spending a lot, the S880 should be on your list.

  1. The specs aren’t bad if you’re looking for a budget alternative to the GS3, Note or Note 2. The battery life should be awesome considering it’s just a single core chip. I’m more worried about the limited RAM though. A screen as big as that is just begging to be populated with widgets :P

  2. Got excited upon reading the headline, 5″ + dual sim, but got disappointed with it having a single core (dual core would have been fine) and 512MB RAM. I could have forgiven its 800*480 resolution and not having a flash for its camera as I don’t almost use it. For sure I won’t enjoy using it for gaming, watching movies perhaps is ok but definitely not for resource-intensive games…
Planning to replace my xperia neo V but I think I’ll pass on this one… try harder lenovo…

  3. ok sana kung dual core..

  4. Well if the price is 10k, i might consider. For 15k, i can buy second hand GNote in greenhills.

  5. single core? and the resolution is a bummer for me

  6. single core,,fail ang lenovo.tapos 1 ghz lang,yung experia arc s nga 1.4 ang bagal na.sayang..

  7. parang pang porma lang yung pagka 5-inch nya since yung performance parang pang 3.5-inch lang.

  8. kung ayaw nyo nyang phone nyo, akin na lang :3 i’ve never had a touch screen phone in my life because we can’t afford :( swerte nyo u can. i hope someone sponsors me :( Haha

  9. if the price down to 11k – 12k ill buy it !! ^_^ maporma cya..

  10. hey there and thank you for your information – I’ve definitely picked up something new from right here.
