LG Optimus G lands in the grey market, packs 32GB storage and LTE

With LG releasing their Nexus 4 phone late last year, it seems to be unlikely that we’ll be seeing the LG Optimus G officially arriving here. The non-Google-branded Optimus G is almost like the Nexus 4 clone but with a few enhancements and less-rounded edges (think iPhone 4).

If you’re planning on getting the 4.7-inch Nexus 4, you might want to think if the LG Optimus G is worth your money more. Widget City is carrying it for Php24,790 while the Nexus 4 retails for Php24,490 so it’s not a huge price difference.

So what enhancements will you be getting with that extra Php300? Well for one, the 16GB storage of the Nexus 4 is bumped to 32GB on the Optimus G to compensate for the lack of microSD slot for these devices. The megapixel count on the rear camera has been bumped from 8-megapixel to 13-megapixel if you think that’s a big deal. Lastly, the Optimus G has LTE support which our version of Nexus 4 is lacking.

Other specs are the same which makes this phone a remarkable one. The 4.7-inch screen has a 1280 x 768 resolution on an IPS panel covered with Gorilla Glass. It also uses a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro (Krait) processor with 2GB RAM so performance would be the same as the Nexus 4. What you’ll be missing is the immediate Android update once it becomes available as common with all Google devices. And since it’s coming from the grey market, you won’t get the official LG warranty (without additional cost) so you might want to weigh your options. Interested, head over to Widget City to place your order.
