Microsoft and Mozilla: We’ll Use The Same RSS Icon

Lo and behold: Microsoft and Mozilla agree to use the same orange RSS icon. Yes, the same one you should see everytime you visit an RSS-enabled site, the leftmost part of your browser’s address bar (if you don’t see it, figure it out here).

I’m excited to announce that we’re adopting the [RSS] icon used in Firefox… This isn’t the first time that we’ve worked with the Mozilla team to exchange ideas and encourage consistency between browsers, and we’re sure it won’t be the last (source)

There were proposals before at the Microsoft RSS Blog to just rework the RSS icon, but thankfully, they reconsidered the move.

Also, the forthcoming Outlook 12 will be using the same RSS icon.

(Thanks Fleeb for the heads-up/reminder that there’re actually sensible minds over at the IE blog)
