It's about time they should push another one of their product acquired from SAP, MaxDB. Oracle will not just stand there waiting one of their competitor eating their market share little by little. I expect them to drop the bomb one of these days.

I can't understand why didn't mysql bought InnoDB in the first place. Oh well...

it is either one of the two:
1. Oracle kills InnoDB, and hence, MySQL through licensing or technological restrictions.
2. Oracle makes MySQL its zombie "subsidiary" by making MySQL suck up all innovations Oracle has to give which results to an ever-more lock-up to Oracle technology.

Either way, Oracle wins, technically and strategically.

Wow, finally the much awaited stored procedures and triggers goes into production... this will really give Oracle and SQLServer a run for their money :D

then again, the purchase of INNODB by Oracle does cast a dark cloud into the whole open sourc-"iveness" of MySQL... considering that INNODB was one of the keys in making it at par with other industry grade DB's because of it's transaction-safe features... sooo, BerkleyDB anyone? :D... then again compared to INNODB I've read that it's a tad bit slow :D

That's some sort of an issue now in MySQL community. Everybody is guessing what will happen if Oracle, a competitor of MySQL, changes the license.

After InnoDB has been bought by Oracle, at least now, MySQL starts to look like a true enterprise RDBMS.
