Sign up for Paypal in the Philippines!
I got a tip on my PayPal Philippines blog entry last night. As it turns out, PayPal for the Philippines blog got the same tip. Today, someone in TipidPC noticed that the Philippines was on the signup selection page. So, I had to try it out.
True enough, it’s open. I signed up for a “Premier Account.” This has a sending limit of US$100 and a zero withdrawal limit. You can’t add funds – when you pay, it will be charged to your card immediately. I don’t know how zero withdrawal works if someone has paid you – is it credited towards your future purchases?
I then applied for the Expanded Use program. For a $1.95 fee, to be credited back later, they will charge an item with a verification code you will see in your next credit card statement. Since I don’t have an online credit card balance facility, I’ll need to wait for my next paper statement to see this. With this active, you are supposed have unlimited paying capabilities.
I don’t know yet what occurred to make this happen. Despite the various problems with PayPal, this is still a win for Pinoy e-commerce.

That’s very good new Migs!
Wow, maybe we should do the same for iTunes in Asia. Now, it’ll just be a matter of proving that fraud in the Philippines is already less evident.
Yay!
When you upgrade to Premier or Business account, you get a notification that you can now “accept unlimited credit card and bank account payments for a low fee.” Is this true for PayPal Philippines Premier Accounts?
[...] Paypal in the Philippines By InTourPreneur At last! I found it here and here. [...]
It seems that Philippines users won’t be able to receive money, regardless of the account type.
Well at leats we can now barter through eBay…
the way i come to know e-commerce, i can use xoom (apparently from the same company that brought us paypal) to receive money from the US to the phil and pay by credit card (my boss’ that is) for some services and digital stuff from the phil to the US.. paypal is nothing but a big fuzz..
and i think its not recommendable to buy something from ebay (ebay US that is), unless you are willing to get ripped off by freight charges, customs and brokerage fee..
wow.. wrencelot is back.. again.
@wrency – have you ever bought something online to generalize how dangerous eBay USA is? Baka hindi ka pa nga nakakabili sa local Bidshot eh. Another question, have you ever used PayPal? Why pay for xoom.com’s charges if you could save by utilizing PayPal’s facility directly? What happened to your “business man point of view”??
welcome back wrency! wer hav u been? we missed you alot! musta business mo?
oh yeah, aparently i have a life but im always here d lang ako leave message coz i know you guys would try so desperately to un-nerve me, some things never changed i guess.. jepoy, how will you utilize something that is not offered here, you f*cking m*ron..
i guess i am back..
haha, sorry, nang inis laang po..
@wrency
on my last visit in the US i was able to acquire a $20 (freight included) 120GB brand new Maxtor hard drive. Was i ripped off? Not to mention a Cooler Master Centurion PC case for 30 bucks( all in)
using both ebay and paypal
@wrency – oh.. you really are stupid. You can buy/bid on eBay USA using your eBay.ph user name. Moron. Cannot use paypal because it’s not offered here? What happened to your “Hane.PH Internet Supremacy”??? How can you achieve that if you haven’t even used PayPal. Pity.
this comment would probably be a very hard slap in the face.. if not, wow..
just to clarify, i did not say EBAY USA is dangerous, “according to jepoy”; i said quote and quote “its not recommendable to buy something from ebay (ebay US that is), unless you are willing to get ripped off by freight charges, customs and brokerage fee..” meaning, kung makabili ka man sa ebay US, TATAGAIN ka nman sa freight(syn: shipping, delivery) charges (ie, i was ripped off by the taxi cab; in tagalog, tinaga ako ng taxi driver – pinoy slang).. how stupid can someone be to interpret that as dangerous.. nagmamarunong tatanga tanga nman sos.. what a joke.. hahahaha, and you suppose me to take you seriously..? ha! dko nga alam kung bket kita pinapatulan, oh wait, i know, because its fun..
(laughing wickedly accompanied wth lightning and thunder)
if i were you i should have stayed with the topic.. moving along..
@laklak
where was it shipped out to..? from the US to phil..? i guess it was shipped in the US if its only $20 USD (including the hdd) because everytime i “ship” something from Canada to US it usually cost me around $30 USD for a 15 lbs (30 kg) cargo.. i think its a good buy and hopefully, the hdd is not defective..
hmm, i wonder what my work is..
@wrency – LOL. maybe if someone has an IQ like yours, he/she should reconsider 100x before buying at USA because of those charges. Taxi cab nga nagogoyo ka na eh, sa ebay pa kaya. Aiiee!
Nagmamarunong? Hindi kaya ikaw yun? :~)
ei jepoy dont overkill wrency, he might snap again….
jepoy, that is what i said earlier, and then you cant get your hands off the keyboard and started writing how dangeours ebay is as an interpretation to what i have said.. i used to like you before coz you have this “reporter” instinct, now youre just this guy who i think whos blogs are just full of mis-interpreted words and opinions that i HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT EVER TO READ..
now, who overkilled whom again..? i am not the one who said hi to whom by the way.. i am just posting my comment about the subject..
and you too narcissistic freak, stay focused on the subject, (pay)pal..
@wrency – ohkay.. i stand corrected on the “dangerous” word if that’s what you wanted. Know what? I also used to like your hane.ph concept until you showed your pseudo-intellectual-arrogant-moronic side. Only a stup*d dumb@$$ would ever follow your recommendations.
wrency are already rich with your business?
Are you already rich wrency wid your business?
I got my credit card statement, and thus my expanded use number. So, I’m now verified and can send unlimited amounts.
My only purchase so far is a Flickr Pro account. This is on my statement and appears as “SG PAYPAL *FLICKR.” So, our stuff is being handled out of Singapore.

Yeah Paypal is now available in the Philippines but you can only use it for shopping online, you won’t be able to receive funds if you’re selling on eBay. There is no definite time yet when are they going to make PayPal here fully functional (sending & receive).
Wanna share it with you guys. After long research, I got a solutions and it’s guaranteed working cuz I got mine already.

Its guaranteed that you will be verified by PayPal allowing you to receive and send money.
I haven’t been to the US yet and I was able to get a verified PayPal Account associating my US Bank Account.
STEPS:
1. Open a US Bank Account (even you’re not from the US. Use your Philippine address, that’s cool.
2. Open a US PayPal account – using any US address – don’t worry PayPal won’t verify your address – it’s the bank account that will be verified.
3. Add your newly-opened US Bank Account to your US PayPal Account.
4. PayPal will then deposit small amounts to that bank account ( that should appear on your bank transaction history within 2-3 days). You will have internet banking facilities with that account.
5. Enter to your PayPal the exact amounts they have deposited to your bank.
6. There you go. You are now a verified US PayPal account holder having the privileges of receiving and sending money online.

I’m an independent artist, i create music and sometimes instrumentals… I’m a member of http://www.soundclick.com, and they have this feature wherein i could sell my music online. For each downloads people made, i get paid for that. But too bad i need a paypal account. It was a big shot for me that paypal is already available in the Philippines but too bad we still cant receive payments… If they just allowed us Filipinos to receive payments, it will open a big door for independent artists here in the Philippines to sell original tracks. Looking forward for http://www.paypal.ph, hopefully.. tnx..
I too have a PayPal account. I joined sometime Nov or Dec 2006 and have been using it ever since. I was also able to get verified without opening any US Bank account because I used my Philippine HSBC credit card to pay for PayPal dues and to get verified also. I have since upgraded to a Premier Account though I am still finding a way how to be able to sell. Hopefully Philippine Accounts will be allowed in the near future. Its going to be good business specially when eshopping in the Philippines goes full throttle.
It’s already the end of first quarter. Is there any updates/improvements for full-featured PayPal Philippines?

Raf,
I didn’t know that PayPal cards (prepaid?) are available.

Paypal Philippines users can now send unlimited amounts of money to any account, fund their accounts unlimited as well but can only withdraw up to a maximum of $500 per month.
Withdrawals can be made thru a debit card, a credit cards and a local Philippine bank.
It’s actually not $500 maximum per month it’s $500 per day and depending on what bank you are with, if debit card it would be the maximum per day and $5.00 fee, if you transfer to regular account it would be around Php20k maximum.I use Paypal to transfer twice every month and sometimes more in a month.
