PH government takes down Kat.PH domain

Kat.PH or Kickass Torrents is a popular torrent site that serves all kinds of files from movies, TV shows, apps, games, books, and music. Go to that site now and it will get you nowhere.

The Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) issued a TRO on the domain which is registered under dotPH Domains Inc. hence blocking the domain from being accessed. This TRO was a result of a copyright infringement complaint filed by the Philippine Association of the Recording Industry (PARI) for the unauthorized use and distribution of original Pilipino music (OPM).

kat.ph

The TRO will last for 72 hours but can be extended to 20 days. Owners of Kat.PH advise its patrons to use Kickass.to or Katmirror.com in the meantime.

Boo! They should focus more on other issues and not things like this.

You have no idea what you are talking about. The reason for the take down piracy. Piracy is stealing.

Napakybang mo magsalita. Wala ka ba piratang gamit sa bhay? Pakaimposible. Bbli original kesa pirata? Sino niloko mo unggoy ka.

thats very injustice, most filipinos own at least a pirated product wether tangible of not….and with the way you act…justice will be serve onto you….. and you will believe in justice…you will BELIEVE IN THE SHIELD !!!

      • If there’s a will, there’s a way !! even the most powerful person can’t stop us from sharing !!

Not to sound pro-piracy but when I’ve learned about torrent reminded me back in the 90’s where I used to record songs from the radio (mostly alternative songs) and share them with my friends.

In a nutshell, my idea of torrent is sharing not exactly stealing. There are times nga na nagustuhan ko masyado ung isang song na napibili ako ng buong original album.

Oh well, It was great while it lasted. Just like btjunkie. Seriously, it’s great the government is doing something about piracy.

As if naman na wala nang KAT? haha alam nila na mangyayari yan that is why they are still online.. On a different address nga lang..

PWE!

  6. They can take it down as much as they want and they should(sayang naman taxes natin)but reality bites, ang ecosystem or architecture ng internet ay talagang prone sa piracy or sharing (depende sa pagtingin natin sa isyung ito) na nag mukha na ang culture natin ay nasanay na sa pag download ng mga shared/pirated files sa internet.

the government should take down any form of piracy, but they cant stop us no matter what or maybe Martial law can. IMO

KILL JOY! t@ng!n@ senyo na yung OPM niyo! parang once in their life hindi sila nagdownload ng any files for free, PA-BIDA nanaman ang gobyerno. ka-badtrip.. .

  10. I have to comment. In heat ang discussion! Haha. Anyway, Oo nga. magnanakaw yung nasa gobyerno. Tayo pa nagsisimula magbuild ng sites , graphics, other digital stuffs, to build a business on line tini-take down nila. Linisin muna nila sarili nila bago tayo mga dukha. Saka na nila ipunish yung mga pirata. They’re just covering their own gawi. Hmf.
