Pinoy in CyberHand Project

John John Cabibihan is one of the members of the CyberHand Project and is currently taking up a PhD degree of Bioengineering at the ARTS Lab of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna Pisa, Italy.

The CyberHand Project is believed to be beneficial to amputees (hand in particular). The new prosthesis shall be felt by the amputee just like his or her lost limb. This is also believed to reduce the discomfort of current prosthesis systems. John John’s contribution in the said project is the biomimetic contact sensors which allows the amputee to feel the object once it has been in contact with his or her fingertips.

The next two to four years, according to John John, shall be an exciting year for artificial limbs.
