I remember playing super mario 3 when I was a kid. The first time I saw the game, I went completely nuts over it! I’d play the game for 8 hours straight everyday! It was so vivid, detailed, and addicting. I remember trudging through the wee hours of the night trying to finish world 6 to 8! It just has that appeal that is still on par, and dare I say, better than some current console games! It was the first game I ever dedicated a lot of time in finishing. Even now, I can’t help but whip out my old NES and play Mario 3 whenever I got time to spare. I hear there’s even a fan made remake of it in wii graphics! Go go go Mario!

  • i remember playing, piko, siato, tumbang preso, sipa and other larong kalye before…now that computers are part of every day life, we must teach our kids some of this larong kalye for them to be physically active aside from playing computer, they must play these stuff too…

  • Patintero. Not just this depicts the rich culture of war between our first settlers of ancestors and foreign visitors, it promotes camaraderie among childhood. It also develops the social cognition through teamwork at an early stage.

I remember that we used to get stagnant dirty water from the nearby canal route using a pan and create lines that would pattern into a grid when our streets were just recently concreted. Having members in equal odd numbers, the first group would have to pass the other side and have to go back safely without being touched by the other group and stepping on these lines. Crossing just the other side is very tricky – it requires stable agility, speed and wit to distract whoever is guarding a cornered box.

Don’t you just wish you could turn back time and play at freewill without too much responsibility at hand? Well, that has been marked on a limestone and will cherished through time, patintero was one of it!

  • superoxy

Definitely syato. hard to master this 3-level game of skill with sticks =)

  • Noel Paner Pereda

PATINTERO is just too memorable for me bec that was the game my sister and I played with my cousins in the province when we lived there for three years. we lived “alone” in our own house but we had our lolo, lola, titos, titas and their kids for our neighbors. my nanay and tatay were most of the times in manila with our elder siblings who were already in college then. this game provided us with joy and recreation so we didn’t really mind our folks being away from us very so often.

there were very few vehicles that passed by so we made the street our playground. we sprinkled water to outline the “court” so we needed to “rewater” the dusty pavement whenever the lines dry out.

  • When I was a kid, I played video games on the Atari and Family Computer. Games like Twin Bee, Contra… wasn’t much of an outdoor kid back then, not as much as well today. Ahehehe.

  • wccamba

What was the most fun game you played during your childhood and why?
    – The most fun game i played during my childhood was Super Mario 1. It was just 2D then but was very amusing. After school, we (my bestfriend and I) would play it until 8pm. It was our bonding time and became the best of friends.

  • Yliah Nina Bosch

I am fond of playing when I was a child and since I am the youngest and I have two brothers ahead of me, I remember playing luksong baka! Yes, you heard it right! I play luksong baka when I was a child maybe because, of course my first friends are my brothers! and the other friend I’ve got in our neighborhood are also my brothers friend, also the tumbang preso, and from playing that, I had this scar on my knees when one of my opponent pushed me! 😐
also, my all time favorite laro is LANGIT LUPA! and, I am the one who always sings: “Langit lupa, imperno, iiinpyerno saksak puso tulo ang dugo, isa dalawa umalis ka dyan sa pwesto mo!” haha!! 🙂

Oh my.. childhood. I missed it.. the times i don’t mind any problems… This contest made me reminisced and remember everything about childhood!! Thanksssss!!! 🙂

  • Yliah Nina Bosch

After school, since my parents wont allow me to go home be myself, my friends and I would usually play while waiting for our sundo.
the most fun game I played that time is chinese garter, tagutaguan! and when I had the chance to sneak my toys, we’d play luto-lutuan and the foods would be the leaves or stones!!

  • Leoncia Bosch

Wow.. childhood. that would probably be like 35 years ago? Haha!!
but most of it, I can still remember everything!!
during my childhood years, there’s no gadgets, play cards, barbie dolls and the likes.. the thing we’re fond of playing would always be sungka, tug of war, out’an base, and luksong tinik! they’re the most fun game I played during my childhood because everything would require cooperation and coordination for the whole time! they’re fun because playing in such way made my friends and I closer together! and until now, when my friends and I would talk about childhood we’ll all laugh!! childhood is amazing!!

  • Ryan Selda

    Hi and good day… 🙂

The most definitely fun and energetic game I played when I was a kid was “SIPA”.

I remember how my energy is always on the rooftop because I always run after the sipa to “call” (“sagutin”) it, so it goes to show how fast I can run after it. It also showcases you different moves and tricks on how to effectively kick the last draw of times of the sipa in order to evade the “it” (taya) player.

Another fun & energetic game I used to play when I was a kid, together with the other kids, was “TOUCHING BALL” [or “DODGEBALL” (US)].

Yep… Those where the fun and innocent days of it… 😀

  • definitely two of my favorites were ‘holen’ and ‘Pogpac’. Holen is the Filipino word for those small crystal marbles while Pogpacs are thin round-shaped paper with character drawings which you can hammer on each other to make it flip. Being the only girl playing these games with boys and streetkids, I have always been bullied for losing my ‘holens’ and ‘Pogs’ to them, which remind me of my crazy childhood days. I would be happy when I win more holen and Pogs but also cry crazy when I lose some of them. My childhood buddies who play with me turned out to be my closest friends until today.

  • Kai

my favorite childhood game: Dig Dug (1980s Namco game)! It was so much fun and easy enough for a kid to play. Playing it helped me figure out how to use a computer. ^_^

    killeshan at yahoo dot com

  • Ken

    Captain Commando!
    Very exciting and challenging!

  • art cruz

    Txt was my favorite game
    during my childhood…
    atocruz@yahoo.com

  • I love playing Langit-Lupa back in my elementary days… 13 years ago 🙂
And in highschool.. the PlayStation took over hahah then Ragnarok 🙂

  • Patintero definitely! It’s an exercise of your whole being.

Physical- requires speed and full stretch of your arms and legs
Mental- you should be alert the whole time.
Emotional- patience is the key. And in times, you should also know how to act as if you’re tired so your opponent would try and cross. The best time to tag! 😀
Spiritual- prayers are needed when you have a tough opponent. Especially when there’s at stake after the game. 😀

  • Deric Kho

Jolens was my favorite….trying to outsmart my playmates with those little pretty balls hehehe….

  • Jim C

Favorite game was Tumbang Preso 🙂

very simple game but it involved being accurate with throwing your slippers and running also

  • I won’t forget playing TEKS.

Who will forget those printed cards of different movies, series and even our favorite anime? And that was almost 15 years ago? This could probably an old game that can’t be revived.

  • Joshua C. Dadulla

Who doesn’t love TAGU-TAGUAN! 🙂 it’s the most common and fun games when we we’re kids!! it goes like this!! tagu-taguan maliwanag ang buwan! MASARAP magtago sa DILIMDILIMAN!! 🙂 yey!!

  • Lizette L. Baclig

We love to play siato with my siblings, cousins and even neighbors!!! it’s a fun game that uses sticks and tin cans. hitting the stick to as far as it can go is the most exciting part. Although it can be very tiring especially if you are at the losing end (since the opponent can make you run and shout siato), it is still one of the best games in my childhood days! More exciting than the techie video games. A bonding time indeed for kids and kids at heart! :p

  • ‎”Moro-moro” or “Agawan Base” is funnest game I ever played during my childhood. It somehow made me become a runner today 🙂

    — ewancoo at gmail dot com

  • After school, my brother and would watch local anime shows on TV. Then, we usually visit our friends near the subdivision. We love playing “paway”. It sounds weird but that’s what we call it in our province. It involves using your pair of “tsinelas” as your bato and your taya. The goal is to use your pair of tsinelas to reach the goal (the line). Your opponents can hit your tsinelas back to the starting line, making it hard for you to reach the goal. The last one to reach the line or never make it at all would get a “spanking” of the tsinelas on the bottom of his foot. I always seem to like that game and I always tell my mom to buy me the best tsinelas so I can use them to play “paway”. Hehe! One more fun activity I enjoyed was going fishing with my friends during weekend. The pleasure of the living in the province… We would go fishing to the nearest river and then go swimming until we get burnt by the sun. 🙂

  • francis raymond santos

During the early 90′ when my brothers, sisters and cousins were still kids, we would play DUCK HUNT (Family Computer)! It was the best shooting game ever at the time. We will play competitively, different styles, different ranges (palayuan at pakontian ng mintis) and wholesome trash talk mode is *ON*! — hida_berserker@yahoo.com

  • Ron

    My favorites are:
Touching Ball – 2 guards on opposite ends and they eliminate the players by hitting them with the ball. Players gain an extra life when they catch the ball thrown by the guard(s).

Football – Baseball-like game but the ball is kicked, rather than being hit by a bat

  • The most fun game I played during my childhood was a visayan name called “Shatom”. I’m not sure if the children in Luzon knows this game. Since I haven’t see any of them playing this kind of game.
This kind of game is a game stick. It’s a long and small stick. The mechanics of the game is to hit the small stick using the long stick as farthest as you can. You can also make a lot of tricks so that the small stick will go farther. Losers will shout-out the name shatom until he reaches to the spot of the game. I really had fun of this game. I wish I can play this game again even I’m now mature.

  • The very first PC game I ever bought was Wing Commander and I enjoyed it a lot back then. I was always excited to play the game, but sadly, was never really good at it. I was able to finish the game, though.

  • Ryozen

It was playing habulan base or “tigsu” (visayan version) with my friends. It was really fun because I love running and the thrill of chasing people and getting chased as well. The most wonderful part of it is that we are playing in an oval so the area is sky’s the limit.

  • beats_master

Playing SYATO (baseball-like game with bases and played by placing a short wood stick on top of a slightly longer stick then throwing the shorter stick for the opposing team to catch) and the classic PATINTERO are for me the most fun games I played when I was a kid.

  • Pat Te

I remember this parlor game we had at our Christmas party when i was in first year high school. It was a game for 30 (or more) persons that we had to form a circle and was made to pick a pc of paper from a box and not open it. Everybody then opened their slip of paper together and find your companions according to what was written on that pc of paper. However, you have to find your companions by the sound of the animal that was on your paper. If you’re a dog, you have to “bark, bark” someone. If he/she says “meow. moew”, then you go to another person until you find your companions. First animal group to do so wins. Imagine the chaos that ensued when five or six animal sounds come together with bark, meows, moos, kokaks, and baahs fill the air. I did this when we had a company party a couple of years ago with grownups it was still fun.

    Pat

ps while talking about games of our childhood raise your hand if anybody remembered or played Game and Watch. My faves were manhole and octopus. Somehow this revelation shows how old i am. 🙂

  • JEJEJE

    “Habulang Gahasa”
it was the funnest game i ever played because… you know….
it was very exciting… ahihi 😀
    and also… uhmmm… you know… vit woter 😀
    XD

  • LeeMT

Step No! hahaha I’m not even sure what its really called but the objective of the game was not stepping on the lines drawn on the street with chalk, and then all of us would look up or be blind folded and say Step No? one time we drew about 15 lines on the street.

  • How about the good old fashion paper airplanes? Great to design your own airplane (like the infamous paniki (bat)).

  • snow0016

Patintero! It’s a choice actually between patintero and tumbang preso. I used to be a mahinhin girl but I also like running around and these two does include running but not so much.. I enjoyed patintero more because there is no winner in tumbang preso. lol.. competition between teams fires up the game thus making it more fun!

  • Most memorable game during childhood? Naku mahirap pumili nang isa lang.. but the ones I enjoyed the best are

Jack stone, Chinese Garter, Patintero, Hopscotch. When computer came, Mario Brothers and Where in the world is carmen sandiego.

Why? Everybody’s playing it. If you can’t beat them, join them! hehehe!

  • Daryle

I remember playing football (it’s like a soccer + baseball kinda game) and touching ball (I’m sure you know this) when I was a kid. They’re so much fun since I had many friends to play with 🙂 And yes, patintero, too!

  • Saranggola. Because there’s the feeling of achievement when you flew your first kite which you made by your bare hands made with anything available (grocery plastic bags, rubber bands, walis ting-ting, thread, etc). Then your little brother comes up and says he wants to try it and accidentally loses grip. Then you go and try to retrieve it if it were possible. If you did, you go home and safeguard that kite like it was worth a treasure, waiting for early dawn break for another flight.

  • Kiel

For me is “bahay bahayan” because when I was a kid I love immitating my parents..And I love this because I playing this with my crush..fells like heaven to me..hehehhe! eggnog_10@yahoo.com

  • hindiakovirus

The most fun game I played when I was a kid was probably the sorta RPGame I played with my friends. We come up with scenarios like us playing policemen/women and going from 1 roof to the next to chase the bad guys. We certainly got in trouble for that!

  • Eroplano papel kapag walang ulan, at kapag maulan.. Bangkang papel!

    KLASIK!

  • The most fun game I played during childhood was patintero, specially when we played it at night (around 10 pm) when my older brothers and sisters were too busy watching TV to mind me. I always liked being the ‘patotot’ and surprising the other team whenever I come out of nowhere to make ‘taya’. The bruises earned from those games were all worth it.

  • Noel M.

I still remember when i was a kid.
Waking up very early in the morning. Powering up the TV and my Family Computer. I’d play Super Mario until my parents wake up and scold me for playing video games too early in the morning. On weekends, I’d play Excitebike with my friends. We played for hours, racing and building our own tracks. Those games were very simple but it brought us so much joy. Good times.

  • I guess the most fun game/play I had in childhood was playing with a mini house with very small and cute appliances and furnitures, with tiny dolls. My cousin and I loved to draw and design small furnitures, so we only had to use our creativity to make tiny figures of people and furnitures to play with.

  • Ailenette Ngo

playing after school.. playing tag, touch base, etc.. it’s always fun that my friends and i get together after school just to play..

  • homer palcong

we always love to play TEX..(the small card game), then we will toss it to know which of us will win, its cool because of the images are from the characters of the ghost fighter and dragon ball Z and anything from anime characters. I used to collect the “TEX” in a box so that when i lose, i can challenge them for more!! 😀

    hoymer_ts@yahoo.com

  • Madz

The most enjoyable game I had in childhood was Patintero. I’m tall for my age so I have long arms and my playmates always wanted me to be on their side because no one can get past me! Haha!

    And also bahay-bahayan. Who didn’t? 😀

  • The most enjoyable game that me and my sisters enjoyed doing was playing jackstone. We played it almost everyday. We really enjoyed doing tricks and stuff. Don’t tell anyone this, but I just bought a set of jacks and a ball. I’m hoping to play with my nieces when they come over this weekend. Even though they’re addicted to computer games now a days, I’ll bet they play with me as the oldest is only seven and her little sister will do anything the older one wants to do. Wish me luck.

  • tiff

Patintero! It is the enjoyable game I’ve played maybe because I got to play it with my friends. Moreover, the feeling of competition between the two groups made me feel furious of winning and giving my heart out for my team!

  • Mary Rose Villamora

I remember my childhood days i was playing bahay-bahayan. I played the role of the child being the smallest in the group…i really enjoyed most of my time playing that game.

    rose_villamora@yahoo.com.ph

  • When I was a kid the most fun game that I’ve ever played was Touchbase. I always play that game everyday after school. It was fun and the thrill along the game with my friends were priceless. I wanted to play it again!

  • Bernadette Santiago

I love playing hide and seek and piko. ^^
I miss playing those games with my sisters and with my friends.

  • The most fun games I played during my childhood days are “tumbang preso” and “agawan-base”. I think that two was the funniest because it can be played by groups or with your friends, no limit ang kasali.

  • Joyce Singson

“What was the most fun game you played during your childhood and why?” … it would be PACMAN, it is my ultimate favorite game during my childhood because it is very entertaining and fun at the same time. It is the first game I known ever since the computer was introduced.

  • Well i can think of so many fun thing games during my childhood which really brings me memories. Family Computer is the most top rated game console during that time… i could really end up nonstop playing during dawn till evening. Who wouldnt know the worlds famous plumber? its Super Mario right? i was so fond of watching this mario flying with his tail on his back… oh good times!!! how about Donkey kong?? yah it really made me also like a kingkong when i always get lose with that..

In the Physical sense of activity game… well tagu taguan is my number one… I always get in to the most dirtiest place just to be concealed and prevented me to be the “taya” person Haha… YUp there is also LAngit Lupa and other more… Great to be child again dont you think?

  • mharlhon

When I was a kid the most fun game that I’ve ever played was Agawan Base and Sipa. I always play that game everyday after school with my schoolmate. it was fun and the thrill along the game. i want to play that game again even im too old na hehehe

  • Vincent Peralta

When I was a kid, my favorite game to play (with my brothers) was my trusty old Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), from Super Mario bros, Double Dribble, Contra and Battle City. Fun memories, and oh yeah, My NES is still working 🙂

  • Julius Peter Gutierrez

    ‘cops and robbers’

it requires athleticism and a good strategy as well.

its fun not only because your with your friends but also honing your decision making capabilities.

  • Jeffrey John Imutan

Nothing beats “COPS and ROBBERS or KICKBALL” it’s like baseball but using a soccerball. it’s so fun playing with your classmates in grade school.

  • I missed playing mario brothers and battle city with my brothers and sisters. It was a bonding moment for us back then, unlike now, we rarely see each other because of our jobs. Hope to play with them soon…

  • for me, tumbang preso and taguan pung, those were the games I enjoyed playing in my childhood. The problem is, I’m always it.

  • Nemory

The most fun game for me during mu childhood was the game played on a Family Computer.
    nemoryoliver@gmail.com

  • GAMG

“What was the most fun game you played during your childhood and why?”
    – It would be touching ball. It is very exciting to dodge the ball and the same time it is gratifying that you can catch it despite being pressured.

  • Long jumping on the roof of a wrecked train (from one train to another). I grew up in Tondo near the Station of Philippine Nation Railways (PNR) in Tutuban where in some cases, kids play the unusual. For us, a train is a toy whether big or small and we found pleasure playing with it.

This is prerequisite to the jump: You have to be tough because climbing alone to get to the roof of the train is already scary. Enough speed, strength and agility to get a needed leap.

We jumped barefooted in order to get a good grip. Every jump was a jump of laughter and life like I was telling to my self, “I’m still alive! I did not fall!”.

Reminder: We may be hardcore then so may I ask the kids, “Please don’t try this at home or anywhere near high. Just stay in school and always do your homework :)”

  • “What was the most fun game you played during your childhood and why?”

Well, I played patintero and tagu-taguan up to the late night hours of around 10 p.m. when I was still 7 years old. Our village is practically safe for kids at that time. The never-ending fun, the equality of treatment whether you’re a boy or a girl, and the noise we create that drives the rich and snotty neighbors mad – that’s fun!

    I liked your fb: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001799811746

And I published your contest page. =)

  • game: classic “family computer” Super Mario Bros.
    reason: <3 breaking bricks and..mushrooms!

  • Michael Jan Menzon

The most fun game that I played when I was a child was “Piko”. I just loved playing the game even if I loses. 😀

  • I like to play contra force family computer also imitating Jacky Chan’s Martial Arts when i was a kid.

  • Rissa Pianno

What was the most fun game you played during your childhood and why?

The pantintero! i love playing patintero! The patotot thing! such a crazy game indeed! reminds me so much of my childhood days in Manila:)

  • What was the most fun game you played during your childhood and why?

The most fun game I played during my childhood is Hide and seek. My friends and I love to play Hide and seek and we always play the game almost everyday. I will not forget specially the day when I was the one who will seek my friends and for more than 15 minutes, I can’t find any of my friends and I thought that they are only good in hiding. But when I pass on my friends house, I saw my friend having their dinner and on that time I understand and realized that they already went home and I was cheated. But still I love to play hide and seek and I always treasure those memories.

  • Shiela Marie F. Apostol

“What was the most fun game you played during your childhood and why?”

For me, it would be hide and seek, playing barbie dolls and chinese garter. It was very fun reminiscing those good old days, the laughter’s that we shared among my siblings, cousins and friends. We are very much happy even if we were really tired and got dirty. I sooo love playing under the sun.

  • Gian Carlo Gutierrez

For me, that would be what they called Names-Things-Animals-Places-Foods.. The race of writing words that correspond to each category in relation to the given letter. Example when the chosen letter is “L” so we have to write down names, animals, things, and so on that starts with that letter, and every correct answer has a corresponding points, just like 10 points for each answer, when there were two same answers in a category they will have 5 points each, and when only one actually got an answer to a category, a 20 points will be the score. Maybe it’s quite boring to others, but it is really a fun game for me..especially when the letter is “N”, most of the time no one of my playmates could write an answer for that under the Animal category..and I have an answer stored in my mind, hehe..this game is so history for me. 🙂

  • ceej soriano

for me, it’s tic-tac-toe & chess, Im a whiz at these games. I even used to challenge my elementary classmates to play against me. I’m lampa when I was a kid, so I seldom participate in rigorous activities, plus the fact na pinalaki kaming puro libro ang hawak..Therefore, nililibang ko lang sarili ko sa mga non-strenous na bagay. hehehe. 🙂

  • A Barnedo

“What was the most fun game you played during your childhood and why?”
That would be “moro-moro” or “agawan base”, its like the fusion of taguan, habulan and mataya taya. The concept and rules of the game is pretty good. I love that game because you and your teammates will have to cooperate to each other to come up with the best tactic to conquer your opponents base.

  • Rolly P. Nunez

When I was a kid, the most funniest game I remembered that we played together with my friends was wrestling. As a wrestling fan, we enjoyed watching the classic and also primitive program of WWE or most popularly known as wrestling.

Me, my brother, cousins and friends not just enjoy the show but also mimics the program itself. We set a little friendly fight as a form of a play. We copy all the moves and killer stunts as we experience the euphoria of being a superstar for a lifetime.

What was the most fun game you played during your childhood and why?

Me and my playmates used to play jumping rope, piko, ten-twenty, and chinese garter a lot. This involved a jumping and skipping which are very good in developing a kids kinesthestic skills and stamina. I wish kids nowadays would play more outdoor games too.

The most fun game we played when I was a kid is boat racing, with the boats made out of cut-downed pieces of a worn-out “tsinelas”, and simple BBQ stick for the mast. We would start the race from next uphill street, going down the street next to our house. It was simple, but yet so fun, because your friends are there with you, eventho…ugh it’s raining cats and dogs.

  • The most fun game I’ve played w/ my friends and family during childhood was hide-and-seek w/ water gun! My friends and I were all armed w/ water gun hiding from each other outside our house running, avoiding to get hit by water guns! After playing because we’re all wet and exhausted we’ll get back inside our house to change clothes and have a nice merienda prepared by my mom! 🙂

  • “What was the most fun game you played during your childhood and why?” Well, for me it’s the “enter game” or known as “Patintero”. I really love to play that game with my Childhood friends. It’s the most fun game for me because in that game, Alertness is very useful plus the fact i’m good in tricking my playmates so I can enter easily. *wink*.

  • Taguan or hide and seek is definitely my favorite game when I was young. It will challenge you both mentally and physically because you have to think of the best places to hide and sometimes requires you to climb on trees, push yourself inside small holes or underneath parked vehicles. Those where the days. Now, I still play taguan from time to time— this time with my son Charles who is learning to love the art of hiding and searching 🙂

Vectorman on Sega Genesis was the best!!! I loved all the different weapons and abilities!

When I was a kid, at school we always play cops and robber. I love being a robber becase they cannot chase me(they run slow). While at home we play apple II computer. During that time PC is not yet invented and this apple II’s games is loaded via a 5 1/4 big floppy disk. Miss those days…

dodgeball. we didn’t use an actual ball though but a rolled hanky.

  • Beejay Domingo

It would definitely have to be Tumbang preso, taguan, baril-barilan and our very own version of dodgeball… Nothing beats Pinoy games talaga…. Hope Im a kid again.

I enjoyed playing dodge ball the most when i was little. It was an exhilarating game and we would always be so hungry afterwards. So me & my friends would troop to my aunt’s sari-sari store to eat chitchirya while laughing at all our funny poses done when we were hit by the ball. Aww, this made me miss my youth haha!

Thanks to my parents, I really had a very wonderful childhood. I really had the chance to enjoy my childhood life to the highest level. Piko, patintero, step yes, step no, luksong tinik, tagu-taguan, agawan base, tumbang-preso, bahay-bahayan, name it, I was able to experience and enjoy it. But among this childhood games, patintero is the game I love the most. I just love the teamwork, the thrill and the challenge that goes with this game. Oh, how I miss being a child again. So sad that today’s generation no longer find these games exciting anymore. 🙁 If only they would give these games a chance, I am sure they’ll gonna love it too! 🙂

  • Dan Robert R. Caracas

The most fun game I played when I was a child are the tag games. Those games include “Langit Lupa, Mataya-taya, Monkey-Monkey Annabel, Block 1 2 3, Sili Tubig, Ice Water and the likes. These games are played with a handful number of children. Most of the children in the neighborhood play this during the days. It involves sportsmanship, physicality, and some form of values. It was my favorite because, during those times, when Internet is not that widely-used, people are connecting with each other physically through play, and somehow, nowadays, games of those sort are rare. My heart gets tagged, not through photos, but by those tagging games when I remember them. I hope I could still able to play it now that I’m 22.

  • The most fun games I played during my childhood years was tumbang preso, ten-twenty and football.

Our version of football is similar to how you play baseball minus the bat. There is someone who will roll the ball and someone who will kick it. There are 4 bases too. We also have a home run.

Ten-twenty is played using a garter. This is the reason why I go to school very early, so I can play with my friends before class.

  • Maria Kenneth Sy

I used to play super mario games before. I became addicted to the game that I remember playing from dusk till dawn. hehehe.

  • It makes me smile after reading this question : What was the most fun game you played during your childhood and why?

My childhood days are the most memorable to me and I think to everyone here who joined in this contest. I remember during my elementary days we always play Patintero, Luksong Tinik, Chinese Garter, football, Tumbang preso, and Habulan taya. It was really fun because we played along the streets with my childhood friends in our area (no need to worry because the street is safe and no vehicle pass in our area (“,) ). All the games that I’ve mention are a group or team game. Meaning we need team effort to win in the game, that is why at a young age I learned the true meaning of sportsmanship in case we lost in the game.

But for me the most fun game that I played during my childhood is the “Hide and Seek or Tagu-taguan”. Why, because for me and my sister this is our bonding moments together and sometimes our parents joined us to play. Yes we can play it anywhere and every time of the day but we much prepared to play it inside our house so that our parent’s don’t need to worry for our safety. I remember during that time that sometimes we go inside our parent’s cabinet or even under the sink just to hide. Now that I have a son of my own I want him to experience all those fun games above and I am looking forward to play with him soon.

  • When I was a kid, most of childhood friends are my relatives and we love to play tagu-taguan, patentero, chinese garter, dampa (playing with rubber bands) and bahay bahayan. But the most fun game that I love is bahay bahayan because I usually play as the mother where I cook some foods using leaves as viand and brown soil as rice. Oh! How I miss my childhood days! 🙂

  • The most fun game I played was Circus using the Atari. When my father would get home from work, we’d have about an hour or so playing the Atari challenging each other and my siblings.

It was fun not just because of the game itself, but because it served as our daily bonding time. I was maybe 5-6 then and up to now it is one of my most cherished memories.

The most fun game I played during my childhood is PATINTERO in our squatter’s area street.

May I quote the squatter’s area street because if there’s a place where you can find LOTS of street children playing and enjoying anything in the street, that is in a quatter’s area!

You can’t believe why because almost all children in the street would join us…haha…Reminiscing it is fun…even those same-age children we don’t know…. and tell you, even adults and parents would join us (you know those parents who just cheer, watch and loiter in the street) yes they join and of course that’s completely fine with us because that just means, MORE FUN!! to the point where our PATINTERO LINES would reach 4 long streets…hahaha…

We use either stones, water or water from the stinking gutter or drainage. (true!) to create lines for our patintero and that just means more fun haha…

and if there’s one more game I would play before I die, that’s patintero in our squatter’s area street.

  • The most fun game that we played during my childhood was “patintero and the luksong tinik”. We used to played this games with my childhood playmates because it brings to us the happiness and the joy of being with your friends and with the team. We work hard and cheerfully at all we played.

  • The most fun game I’ve played during my childhood was the Battle City/Tanks video game, using our Nintendo Family computer. My whole family got hooked and we had to take turns to play the game. My dad was the best player of all, and my mom gets to beat our scores even while she was pregnant with my youngest sister back then. My cousins would come over for the weekends just to play with us too. Everytime we played this game, our house would be filled with laughter, kantsawan, chichiria and joyful noise while tugging and blasting each other with our joysticks. Sigh, I wish I could go back to those times once more.

  • The most fun game I played during my childhood days was “spider fight” because i have this master spider that fought so well when he’s hungry, I know it’s a male game but it’s not an excuse of me not playing it. I played it with my 2 big brother and male neighbors with my age. I was the only rose among the thorns who also have a master spider. I really had fun having all those fame. lols

Sounds crazy but it linked our strong bonds as a group of friends and relatives that when we remembered the old times, we share, exchange funny thoughts and also a small bonding activity to strengthen our part and present relationships.

“What was the most fun game you played during your childhood and why?

When I saw this when I was a child at the store I grabbed it right away. When I looked at the back, It looked like the graphics were awesome, and they were! Even for a gameboy game, the graphics were pretty good. Best of all is that it hooks up to gamecube if you have Monkey Ball 1 or 2. It is great and simple to play, but hard to get past maybe the 10th level on beginner. So, all in all this is an awesome game and I think it rocks. There is a main game where you have to roll over to the goal, a mini game mode with the following games: MONKEY DUEL, and my All TIME FAVORITE – SUPER MARIO BROS! For me it is the best, until now I’m addicted to it!

The most exciting game that I played when I was a kid was a modified “Tumbang Preso”. When me and my friends’ rubber slippers were all used up to topple the dented can (evap, condensed, sardines), the one guarding it or “taya” will have to catch one of us to replace him. What’s exciting about it is we miss hitting the can intentionally so that the “taya” will have to catch one of us and the chase was a very long one because we go around as far as the next street. Kawawa ka talaga pag taya ka! Hehehe.

Its more fun & exciting, it played on empty streets composed of 6 to 8 players or more and divided it equal numbers. It involes a grid drawn on the ground where one team will try to pass through while the opposing team tries to catch them without leaving the grid’s lines at all times.

The first thing that comes to mind at once is the only time my dad ever actually played anything with me. It was only time he let his guard down as being strict, relaxed from work stress, and thoroughly enjoyed playing the Nintendo Family Computer he gave me months prior. It was the Popeye game I borrowed from a classmate that did it. (Thanks again Edgar!) After we suck at it, I plugged in the Super Mario and we played together until my bed time…

Definitely PATINTERO. I really enjoyed this game so much that even if I am already in college back then, I always asked my classmates to play this during our P.E. subject. It’s a team work game. You have to coordinate with your team so that you can pass every round plus, you have to be very careful with your actions. I think most of Filipino games should be revived. Children nowadays are more fond of playing computer game, the outcome? they don’t execute physical games anymore, how about tumbong preso? patintero? chinese garter? langit-lupa? piko? taguan? and more…certainly brings back a lot of memories 🙂

what was the most fun game you played during your childhood and why?

I think it’s “hanapan daga”. Hanapan-daga is a game where one of the player called “taya” must be blindfold with a handkerchief for him/her not to see the other. and what he/she must do is to find the other player, hold and named him/her right and that is the time he/she will be replaced by another person. and the other player must climb or hide for him not to be found by ‘taya”

This was fun because i usually played this together with my kuya and cousins on a Saturday night. It makes me happy and quite sad remembering those moments where we’re all united.where My cousins stayed with us every Saturday for us to play. that game was really fun though we ended up with a bruise or scratches on knees and hands because of climbing to the grills and walls where we cant be reach.

More laughs, shouts and excitements made it too much fun!!

The most fun game you played during your childhood is “Langit-Lupa” because I get to run around a lot while I avoid being tagged. It’s so thrilling and exciting as we get to find places which is higher than the ground. I rarely got tagged. Ha!ha!ha!

When I was young, way back elementary days.Aside from our street games like tumbang preso, sipa, tagu taguan, langit-lupa, etc. Me and my friends used to play ball games like volleyball, even I’m a girl we also played basketball with my girlfriends just for fun with our other boy friends(as in play mates), or we just come to the civic center near to our baranggay just to have a our pustahan who’s the fastest swimmer of us. haha. Me and especially my friends are really sporty. During that times computers are not yet exposed to most children. This Outdoor games of ours, creates or cultivate certain moral values such as co-operation, friendliness, sympathy, discipline, sportsmanship and most of all our it is a way to grow and enhance our friendship. Aside from that, it brings significant improvement in physical fitness or in short word it makes us physically fit. That’s why I can say it is much better than to play computer games.. 🙂

Well, the most fun game I played during my childhood had to be the pokemon games for Game Boy and Game Boy Color… I remember that I would go to school every day and take my Gameboy Color and Pokemon Crystal Version with me along with a link-cable because that was a necessity haha. I would battle and trade with friends during recess and lunch and occasionally during class because me and my best friend sat in the back of the class haha. Damn, now that i mention it, I never lost a battle in school… probably because we were all kids, but damn haha.
Also, Yugi-oh cards were the most fun thing we could play when they banned taking electronics to school haha. I had the sickest deck as a kid because I would get like p200 a week of allowance and either buy a pack of cards right away or buy cards for p50 from other students. I also had a little business of selling rare cards for p200 each by buying them from the coin slot machines by my cousin’s house for p25 each lmao… ahh, i don’t think i ever lost a duel back then either haha…

damn you asked what was the most fun game i played and i gave you a life story lmao, sry about that haha

We always do that when my father and mother were on their early age pa and it’s really fun playing with them because of all of us were sport. I am doing it now with my own family now and still, I’m enjoying doing it same with my kids. =)

“What was the most fun game you played during your childhood and why?”

For me, it was the time when I was still at age like 7 or 8 where me together with my brother and some friends will go to the mountain and bath to the water falls. Yep we used to lived at some part of Metro Manila where nature is still intact and we do stuff like mountain hiking (Mountains there are not that high)like we go from one mountain to the other and between these were water falls. We used to stay and swim there for like whenever we want. We were in the middle of nowhere where we can only here the birds and the water running. We eat and play there till before the sunset so we can go back before dark. It was nostalgic to think about that again. We literally had an adventures back then i think no other things can replace that those were the memories of my childhood that will last forever.

I remember when I was about 9-10 years old, when my friends and I play “luto-lutuan” using pots and pans made of clay which my mom bought for me during one of our annual trips in Antipolo. We used to get weeds from the backyard and pretend that it was our rice. It was nice to remember it because as I look back, we were playing and having fun but at the same time, learning one of the basic skills in life.

The most fun game I ever played during my childhood days was “Piko” & “doktor wak wak”

This Traditional pinoy game are very much alive during our days, played with my cousins and playmates every afternoon. We will meet in one location and then start playing. My friends and I developed deeper friendship and bonding moments everyday. Though, that time we have an atari but still enjoyed more playing outdoor games, because I learned independence, confidence and be competitive to others.

In doktor wak wak, I should say that teamwork and solvin problems gave me to analyze things in life.

For me, the most fun and exciting game that I played during my childhood days and up to now is “PARES-PARES” it was like pairing all the cartoon cards we have and whoever keeps the card with no pair shall be murdered LOL (kidding) with face powder thumb marks.. It can also be powderized charcoal and lipstick.. Right after the game is the picture taking wherein all of us are covered with stuffs in our face.. That was seriously FUN !!

  • I remember, Luksong-Baka was our favorite during childhood. It’s like – the one called “taya” must bend his back forward then everyone has to pass by jumping over him. A great bond like this was a great help for us to stay away from doing some naughty things! This was really fun.

The most fun game I played during my childhood days was Tumbang Preso because it enabled me to interact with my playmates in a competitive yet friendly atmosphere. I think its the Military school. We were playing that once a week. we are doing drills and activities. My eldest cousin is our Captain. Sometimes we have to complete a drill, and the team who has the shortest time will win a loop bag of candies. It is the coolest game I’ve played. I hope we can do it again. On the other hand, we also play Tumbang Preso, Patintero, Chinese Garter, Langit Lupa and etc to ease or boredom. 😀

The most fun game I played during my childhood was when my friends and I had a race in a ‘pilapil” in the middle of a rice field. It was a rainy season at the time and many of us fell into knee deep mud. Up to now, I can still the smell of fresh earth and remember how vivid the color of the young rice plants surrounding us. Life was simple then. Fresh air and hectares upon hectares of rice fields will surely make you run ’til you drop. Nothing can beat such fun having nature as your playground. But remember to keep watch of the bolo wielding farmers. You do really need to outrun them. Regarding the carabaos, stay away from them to be safe.

  • Catherine D. Rafaila

The most fun game i played during my childhood was chinese garter. For me it was fun because U need to jump high for u to win the game. It’s a team effort game. If someone in the team miss to reach the height of the garter, one of the team mate will need to reach the garter twice or as many as team player missed (it depends on how many player in the team miss to reach the garter) for the team will start again to the lower level again.
After school we used to play that game with my cousins and friends, we really have fun during that days.

“What was the most fun game you played during your childhood and why?”

the most fun game I ever played is the “tumbang preso’. hahah.. it is a kalye game where each of members take the following rules: one as the “taya”, someone who takes the rule of a-player-at-stake and holds the responsibility of the Lata(tin can), and; the two others as the players striking. The game is performed by having the players a “pamato” (which is ones own slipper) used for striking the tin that is held beside the taya.

As to how the game cycles, the taya, is obliged to catch another player to take over his position of running after the tin that keeps from throwing away by the strikes of the players. Nevertheless, the taya is only privileged to do so only if the player is holding on his way a pamato and when the tin is on its upright position. Hence, running after another player is keeping an eye to the tin can’s position. As for the players, they have their whole time striking the tin can and running away from the taya keeping themselves safe with their pamato since making the tin fell down helps another player from recovering. Instance like having everyone had their turns over is one big climax of the game that leads them to panic since case is that taya has all his rights to capture whether the player have a hold of their pamato or not.

However, mechanics also give each side privileges. With the roadway or streets as the area being performed, the taya take its place on one side held its tin centered on the ground while on the other end is bound by a line that limits the player when throwing. Breaking rules to the players give way for the taya to have his overturn, like: stepping on or outside the boundary line when throwing; kicking the tin; striking the tin without having oneself reaching the line; or even touching it.

hahah.. so enjoyable and a good thing to remember playing it.. 😉

The most fun video game that I played during my childhood was of course “SUPER MARIO Brothers!” If you did not enjoy this video game then you must have not enjoyed your childhood years. I mean, who was not entertained by the game? saving the princess, having super powers, swimming under the sea, flying above the clouds, killing those annoying turtles, teleporting to another portal, trying to reach the flag to get a bonus points, now that was fun right?! It was played in the family computer, we even had a hard time removing and replacing super mario tape, but it was all worth it. When talking about it, it will always leave a smile on me and my friends faces. It was just not the game that we enjoyed, but also the wonderful memories that we shared when we played SUPER MARIO Brothers.

i had so much fun playing with my cousins in the province everytime we went there for vacation. my sister and i don’t play much outside as we were not allowed to play outdoors, so playing outside was a thrill for us. we scavenge for candy wrappers near the store of my lolo and around the neighborhood, then we use the candy wrappers as our play money. we get leaves to “sell” as vegetables, fish or any commodity we could think of. we even use our bikes in going around. we have such big space to go around in the province (and this is not on the road)! a little creativity and imagination were all we need to have fun. i miss those days. =)

“What was the most fun game you played during your childhood and why?”

It would have to be the Super Mario Bros 3 video game and using the old Nintendo game console at that! I remember being a fanatic of SMB 1 and 2 but when SMB 3 came out, it was such a blast and I was hooked! I had to battle new enemies, deal with the new challenges and obstacles, and had to go through the 8 worlds (the Giant world was my favorite). Good thing the game also introduced new power-ups and special abilities to help me stay alive in the game. I super enjoyed the new additions of the Super Leaf Suit and the Frog Suit but the Magic Whistle would have to be my all-time favorite special item as it helped me bypass and skip certain worlds. I had fun being ahead in the game with my Magic Whistle and had to laugh out loud whenever I get hold of the Magic Whistle before my siblings could. Ah, those were such fun times. I enjoyed the game as much as I enjoyed playing it with my siblings. We sure had a lot of fun memories with Mario and Luigi way back then 🙂

–Mine was playing wrestling with my cousins, where we have to stand on a bed and wrestle each other by pushing each ones shoulder downwards, or into whatever direction and so on until we go shaking tired of exerting too much force to each other. The fight ends when we’re both lying on the bed, and taking some deep breath! When we we’re older it was when we realized that it was quite a violent game for a 7-10yr old kids to play on. Though it might seem ridiculous, we really did had fun and we did not hurt each other =) just purely PUSH + TICKLE = 101% FUN! all smiles =D

Have any of you played X-Men? Hahaha! It was one of the much-awaited animated series every Friday night, which was previously shown at ABS-CBN during the late 90s.

Together with my childhood friends, we used to mimic the distinctive actions of these magnificent heroes and villains. I also remember, we always gather around at our back yard (which was a vacant lot) and build our own X-Mansion built with scrap materials.

After constructing our lair, there goes the action! We role-play some of the renowned characters of X-Men such as Professor X, Wolverine, Cyclops, and also their foes like, Magneto, The Sentinel among others. We pretend to be like these characters and acted like we have mutant powers also.

It was one of those nostalgic moments and absolutely an enjoyable and fun childhood experience.

  • Kasal-kasalan, bahay-bahayan and luto-lutuan. I can’t forget those games. It was a real fun game. We used to play it in a “Kubo” (native house) made for my friend just for our playhouse. At first, there will be a wedding, for the kasal-kasalan part. Wherein, we made cake from a wet sand, vegetable dishes from any leaves we could gather and flowers as bouquet. It was funny when it was my turn to be a bride because my groom was my crush during that time. There was this instance that my friend got jealous of me for being a bride because the groom was her crush too. LOL. The cheesy part was when the priest pronounced us husband and wife. He did kiss me. Afterwards, we got to play the bahay-bahayan part. We mimicked the role of each of the member of the family and used towel to make as a baby. We did marketing by going around the village to look for any scrapped materials, leaves, flowers, and anything we could gather that we thought was useful for the house. We then cooked foods as luto-lutuan game from our kitchen utensil toys, and fed our pets (stuffed toys). Those days was incredible. All we did was play. I’ve got great memories of my childhood. I just love being a kid then. LOL.

The most fun game I played during my childhood days was duyan duyan under our house.I used to play it with my 2 elder sister. Since my father won’t allow me to go out the house I learn to appreciate staying in the house. The funny part of playing this game is that we assumed that its already night and we lie on the mat and then we forgot and took asleep.

For me, it’s piko. I loved it because the game is very challenging specially if you have too many “bahays”. I am really missing those times playing with my sister and childhood friends. 🙂

My favorite game during my childhood years was Lupa Langit! Someone will be the IT and he will try to catch a person who is on the ground. You have to be on a high level place so that IT won’t catch you, but you can’t stay on one place for a long period of time. It’s so fun especially if you are playing with your relatives and friends. =) I’m always the IT though hahahah

I am not sure why my 1st post did not appear. anyways, here’s another try… My favorite game during my childhood years was Lupa Langit. It’s so fun playing the game with family and friends =)

  • Himbabao! It was good and fun, all the hiding and chasing inside the public market (when all the store is closed), through the rice paddies, and sometimes up to the beach. God I love my childhood weekends because of this game.

The most fun game i played during my childhood is spider fight, we used to catch spiders for fighting at night so we could fight them with other spiders. You have to put them in match boxes which has several divisions. Feed them, giving them water, and doing sparrings with other spiders before the big fight. There were a lot of different spiders we could use then, we call them based on the tree or where we usually catch them, some are the gagambang saging(banana spider), gagambang ordin(spider with a big spot at the back, usually white spot), there are a lot of kinds but the ones i mentioned were the ones i remember. The best spider i ever had was the gagambang kuryente, the fiercest of them all which can stand in almost any weather which is found on power lines. That was the most fun game i ever played and i won’t forget….

  • “What was the most fun game you played during your childhood and why?”

my most unforgettable and coolest game I’ve ever played in my life is “habulang hubo” .. It was an embarrassing moment for me but then it was so cool. As time pass by and as the children grows they even forget those games because of the generation. Even though it was so malicious it was so fun to play because its the willingness of the player to do so.

ANG SAYA KAYA TRY MO! .. 😀

What was the most fun game you played during your childhood and why?

I think the most fun game I played during childhood was “Lutu-Lutuan with merienda and Bubbles game after”. We really take time to set-up stones that will serve as the base of our “stove”, we have dried leaves and woods and even a match for real fire! A can of Century Tuna or Maling will serve as our pots to cook our food – we have water, alatiris & guava, and gumamela!

we boil alatiris in water(lutu-lutuan part) and eat it after (merienda part) and lastly, we boil and crush the gumamela leaves with joy to make a solution for bubbles! So much for bonding time!

“What was the most fun game you played during your childhood and why?”

My favorite game is patintero with my sister and cousins as well as the video game pacman and galaga. It makes my childhood worth remembering…

  • “What was the most fun game you played during your childhood and why?”

My village friends and I played “Patintero” during our childhood days. It was fun and memorable cause we used to play that during the 1990s power crisis where there were rotating brownouts. No electricity means no chance of playing our “Family Computer”. We would just go out on the streets, play patintero and enjoy while the moon is full. 🙂

  • When I was a kid, the most fun game I played is tumbang-preso. It was one of the popular games during my time since there were still no video and computer games.

Though the game was easy, we needed to have more players because the more players there are, the more challenging the game would be. We would start by playing bato-bato-pix and the one who lose the most would be the “it”. Then the “it” will defend the can from being hit and when he caught or ‘tagged” another player when the can was not yet knocked down, then that another player would be the new “it”. We had so much fun laughing and shouting when the “it” started to chase everybody, if he happened to be slow, he would end up returning the can over and over again.

I remember we used our ordinary rubber slippers as weapon to hit the can and after the game we would go home all laughing and dirty and stinky and my mother would say we smell like stray dogs and she would pull our ears and threw us in the bathroom and me and my siblings would still laugh our hearts out.

“What was the most fun game you played during your childhood and why?”

I really enjoy reminiscing my childhood memories!

My friends and I really had fun playing Hide-and-Seek, Patintero, Base-to-Base and even our very own game…..Takeshi’s Castle.
I can still remember the game that I made that has the concept of finding a clue in our community that leads them to their next destination. It was a successful one and we even play it until now!
If you don’t know, that’s the concept of a reality show named The Amazing Race. But I made my game before realizing that there is already a show like that.
Maybe that’s the reason why I’m an addicted to The Amazing Race!

Those are my memories but that’s not my most fun game of my childhood life,….

The Most Fun Game that I have played during my childhood is the POKEMON!
I think everyone knows it. The children in our community loves to play with it also. My brothers, my friends, and I really had fun playing with it. We even challenge each other. The name of our group is named after that game!
    I REALLY LOVE POKEMON!

“What was the most fun game you played during your childhood and why?”

I remembered that my sisters and I usually played ‘Tagu-Taguan’ (Hide and Seek) with our neighbors who were mostly BOYS. It was fun because we got to knew them and we became friends. We usually hid in an unfinished house which up until now was still standing in our village. Whenever I see that house, I recalled tagu-taguan days. I missed it as well as the boys who once became my playmates and friends.

  • The most fun game I’ve ever played when I was a small kid was luksong tinik (Jump Thorns).

It’s a good form of exercise, unlike nowadays, hindi puro electronics ang laruan natin before. And also a challenging one.
This game seems to help develop my skills in cause and effect, spatial awareness, motor skills, and problem solving. Also my social awareness since we are a team in this game.

I and my sister usually enjoy playing “pretend” games. It is where I had many adventures and have reached distant places through playful imagination and resourcefulness.

I remember the most interesting part of my childhood with my friends as we are growing up is the game we used to play usually in the afternoon is siatong a game with a wooden stick you have to play with two woooden sticks one is used to lift the other sticks and flip it as far as the wooden stick go on the way back where your wooden stick has landed you have to walked back to where you have began and on walking you have to shout Siatong when you loose your voice you stop there and do it all over again as you farther and farther the one who comes back to the original place won the game of couse you should survive shouting by walking the word siatong…. easy to say but hard to do …. gasping for breath to reach your goal..
