Pwede Card: The Card That Can’t

I first wrote about PLDT & Smart’s Pwede card in May. I wrote about how I like the idea of loading the card almost *anywhere* in the Philippines through any nearby Smart reloading stall.

Now a darkside of the Pwede card is slowly manifesting itself …

Users left comments on Technobiography of how the Pwede Card has many un-expected changes from the regular telesulit/teletipid service.

Below, I summarize what you *can’t* do with the Pwede card, as described by users:

  • Some ISP’s dial-up numbers are blocked
  • Need to have a minimum of P30 to make an outgoing call. P30 expires in three days!
  • If you do not load for the next 30 days, phone will be disconnected
  • You can’t reload a telesulit card once the phone reaches zero balance
  • PLDT has stopped production of teletipid/telesulit cards (un-confirmed – ka Ed)

Telepwede users aren’t happy. One Pwede user is even contemplating filing a lawsuit against PLDT/Smart.

  2. The Pwede Card appears to be an exit strategy to discontinue the Telesulit/Teletipid services and convert to Telepwede which brings better revenues for PLDT.

    Alam nyo bang Oct. 7, 2006 pa kami kinabitan ng TELE-PWEH! pero January 22, 2007 na ngaun, eh di pa ako nakapag-load at di makagamit ng outgoing calls!!!!@#$%! GRABE NA ANG CUSTOMER SUPOT NILA!

  4. hay naku. kung alam ko lang na ganyan yang Tele-PWEH na yan di na sana ako nagpakabit pa. Hindi ko magamit Internet always busy. Ung customer supot nila wala namang kwenta. puro dada wala namang ginagawa.

    as in. last time nagload ako ng 30. sabi nila ang internet 5php per hour. tpos nagcoconnect ako ang bagal sobra. i tried disconnecting then reconnect ulit walang ma browse ni google. LUPET grabe. until finally my 30pesos went to drain ni isang kusing wala akong napakinabangan. NOw naman im trying to call 10-123 sa celphone. walang nangyayari. This is so unfair!!! You’re taking our money and you’re not giving us proper service.

    first time ko lang rin gumamit ng telepwede and pareparehas tayo ng sitwasyon…
    ask ko lang kung meron bang free time na pde kang mag internet ng libre sa tele-”PWEHde” ng PLDT?

  11. i really feel cheated with this telepwede. pldt customer service “sweet talked” me in switching from my old telesulit to this telepwede describing features that I found out to be all lies now. never knew that pldt could be that scheming. akala ko i could be saving much but it turned-out na parang piranhang gutom itong tele-pwede na ito, hinahalot-hot lang nang di mo nalalaman ang load mo.

The web service of telepwede is so disgusting!Ang tagal makaconnect,tapos sa homepage ka lang makakarating.Sa ibang website,page cannot be displayed na.Pag sinuwerte ka naman na makapunta sa other websites,napuputol naman!Buti na lang naka Bayantel internet ang brother in law ko.Dito na lang ako nag iinternet.

  18. meron ako number ng isp na pwede sa telepwede kaso lng napuputol ang line nya every 3hours, help naman kung ano pa ibang dial up numbers na pwede sa telepwede?

Kapag gumagamit ako ng pldt pwede card, pag dial ko pa lang ng 10-123 busy na kagad. di ako maka connect. pag dinadial ko naman yung hotline nila na 10-120 wala namang sumasagot ring lang ng ring. sabi nila pwede itong magamit pangtawag sa NDD pro di ako makaconnect kasi laging busy. bakit sila nagpa “print adds” at inilabas sa mga tv commercial kung d naman effective yung products nila na pwede cards.

  20. 4 days bago pa mag-expire ung load kso nawalan ng dial tone ung phone unit ko. Kaya nagreport agad ako sa pldt repair service. cnsbi na wla naman problem sa linya kya mgpppunta raw ng technician sa area nmin. Pag dinadial mo kc ung # mula sa ibang telepono (landline o cp), nagriring cya kaso pag pinik-up na ung handset, wla k nman maririnig. Kaso 1 week na ung nkalipas wla p rin technician na pumupunta e panay naman ung follow-up ko sa kanila at un palagi ang cnsabi ng mga operator. Dti cyang teletipid na naiconvert sa telepwede.

    sa exp. ko eh ok naman ung telepwede….but sometimes may problem like d ka makatawag sa kahit anong number laging busy in 1 to 2 hours saka d ako makaconnect sa isp sa loob ng 5 months pagkakabit ng linya….in internet minsan ung connection dead (send no recieved)nga pla may off peak pla 2 in my exp. 3 php lng all da way na un kahit ilang dc ka 3 php lng ang bawas12 am to 8 am…kung ayaw gusto mo namn ng ibang isp eh bumili ka ng GO! internet card minsan lng mag dc nasubukan ko 2 12 am 2 8 am d sya na disconnect….. ty……….

  23. pls.para po sa mga subs na pati telepwede agents ay minumura although na wla clang ksalanan sa kapalpakan ng PLDT dahil sa telepwede.alam ko na tlagang nkkimbyerna tlga ang service but still we dont have the right na murahin cla directly bec.it affects them mentally and emotionally.binabaryan lang cla ng PLDT pra saluhin ang lahat ng galit natin.beliv me im an international csr and every month we had a psychological chekup.iba ang trauma na binibigay nito ng bwat murang sinasalo nila to protect the company that pays them.kung pede nga lang cla n mag-manipulate ng every complain and request ntin Y NOT? diba?mahirap ang tumanggap ng mura 8hrs a day and bwat tpos ng call ay they only 20 secs to have a break before another call comes in.isipin nlang natin n WE WILL NEVER BE ON THEIR SHOES.CGURO RESPECT N LANG AS A PERSON.KUNG GUSTO NTIN MAGMURA DO IT DIRECTLY TO PANGILINAN AND ALSO TO SMART.

    la nang kwenta. every 30 mins laging dc..3php ang pawas sa 30 mins, pag recon mo ulit pag na dc ulit 5php na ang bwas minsan 7php badtrip..i advise na gumamit n lng kau ng GO! internet card… ok pa un exp. ko walang talagang dc… as in except sa peak hour 6:00 pm -10:00 pm dami dami nakaol nyn kaya normal lng ang ma dc….

  29. PLDT is taking advantage of the telepwede card. Grabe, since January, di na kami makareceive ng incoming call. They say that it will take only 3 working days after we have loaded P115 as payment for incoming calls pero hanggang ngayon ayaw pa. I pity the personnel who answers inquiries. Sila ang minumura dahil sa kapalpakan ng PLDT management.

  30. yay, another forum…ano ba yan…wla na qong masabi…baka kailangan nilang mag shut down ng system or whatever…mag maintenance…o baka naman talagang hindi lang nila alam ang gagawin nila (but that’s impossible di ba?) there’s really something wrong with pldt…a lot of you are right into saying that their agents, supervisors etc etc must not be blamed for this after all they’re not there if they don’t know what exactly to do (or do they?) baka talagang pinipigilan lang silang gawin ang dapat nilang gawin…(men, do i sound desperate…it’s been 4 months since i cannot use my phone…grabe!!!!)

  32. problema ko rin incoming call at blocked ang nos. ng mga prepaid internet sa telepwede, ang connection sa vibe palaging 30 mins napuputol na. saang agency ng gobyerno ba dapat ireklamo ang ganitong napakapangit na serbisyo?

  34. leche talaga pldt telepuwede. isang taon na akong hindi makakonekta sa pldt vibe. parepareho ang sagot. gumagamit ako ng isp

My bf’s phone is subscribed to telepwede for quite some time now. nakaka-badtrip minsan if walang incoming because “temporarily barred upon subscriber’s request” dahil hindi nakapag-load agad. but just recently, he reloaded for incoming and outgoing and just 2 weeks after, NAPUTOL…may problem daw ang tele-pwede and lahat ng nire-reload for incoming, napupunta sa outgoing…so he calls me instead and loses money na sana ako nalang tumatawag sa kanya and saving a lot. this sucks!

  36. your call is important to us our service rep are assisting other calls at the moment…shit!!! almost 1 hr waiting to connect to a representative and almost 2 mos., following up to repair that telepuwede phone..wake up PLDT grabe na kayo….
