Samsung Galaxy Alpha, 4.7 inch, metal frame, 7mm thick Galaxy smartphone

Samsung today has unveiled its latest smartphone from the Galaxy line, the Samsung Galaxy Alpha. Unlike the previous Galaxy models with frames mostly made out of plastic, the new Samsung Galaxy Alpha features a sophisticated design with a metal frame, elegantly curved corners and a tactile soft back cover. In addition, it is visually balanced, with the perfect contrast of both a calming, soft matte finish and an eye-catching reflection from the metal frame.

At 7mm thick, the Samsung Galaxy Alpha is one of the slimmest Galaxy models ever. The Android KitKat Octa Core smartphone has a 4.7 inch HD Super AMOLED display and an advanced camera that can take UHD 4K videos @30fps.

The Samsung Galaxy Alpha will be available early September in Charcoal Black, Dazzling White, Frosted Gold, Sleek Silver, and Scuba Blue.

“œThe Galaxy Alpha was built and designed based on the specific desires of the consumer market,” said JK Shin, CEO and Head of IT & Mobile Communication at Samsung Electronics. “œWith an entirely new appearance, the Galaxy Alpha focuses on both beauty and functionality combining a stunning metal frame and slim, light weight design with the same powerful hardware and features users expect from a flagship Galaxy mobile device.”

Looks good! Kinda looks like a smaller Note 3 but I'm worried about the 1,860 mAh battery… Can it last long??

That's also the first thing I noticed. They should have at least plugged the same battery as the S5's.

Hi guys! I saw a video about its battery and it lasts for about 11 hours of video playback. Compared with what the s5 has which I think is only 10.5 hours of video playback.

"It uses HMP which enables any combination of 8 cores depending on the need. From 1 cortex a7 in very low need to all 8 cores. It is the most power efficient and powerful implementation of big.LITTLE. Cortex a7 are more efficient than kraits. HMP can do all that asynchronous can do. The 8 cores will run rarely and only if needed. This is more efficient implementation of cores." – GSMarena (Tyrion Lannister)
