Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 now available, starts at P12,990

If you can’t wait for the Google Nexus 7-inch tablet and its Jelly bean goodness, then maybe the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and its price could be the next best thing for you.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is not much different from their earlier Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus. It has the same 7-inch PLS LCD Display at 1024 x 600 resolution and same ports and features. Probably the glaring difference between the two is the 1GHz dual-core TI OMAP processor (same used on the BlackBerry PlayBook, LG Prada 3.0, and Amazon Kindle Fire) instead of the Plus’ 1.2GHz dual-core Exynos chip. This one also runs on Android Ice Cream Sandwich which users are saying far more responsive and better user experience than the Plus 7.0′s Honeycomb OS.

Just like the Plus 7.0, the Tab 2 7.0 also has a 3.2-megapixel camera capable of 720p HD recording. There’s also a front VGA cam available for video chatting. You will get 16GB internal storage from this tablet with a microSD slot for expanded storage.

Samsung Philippines recently announced on their Facebook page the availability of this which starts at P12,990 for the WiFi version and P16,990 for the 3G version. If you want a bigger tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 is also available for P22,990.

      • Mojojojo says:

It’s priced down because it’s only wi-fi version. It’s 3G version is still at 17k something.

      • Are you kidding? Apple engineers are intentionally held back on modifications by management so that gullible Apple customers are always forced to buy newer versions to get innovations that are already in other brand name’s tablets at a lesser price. By the way, good move on the iPad without a single camera. That’s just AMAZING!

    • you can view it (free version) or edit (paid version) with Polaris (if im not mistaken

  2. can tablets handle microsoft word? i needed a device that can handle such!

      Hintayin mo ung MS Surface.

    • There are Android apps like Quick Office and Documents to Go that would allow you to view, create and edit Office files. They’re expensive though. Of course, you can download an APK (Android version of an app installer) and sideload it if you can find a source. Take note that editing Office documents isn’t as easy on a tablet than on a PC.

    Nexus 7 pa rin :P.
Kahit 16 GB lang ung max.

  4. Nexus Pros: Quad core cpu and GPU, Jelly bean. and higer resolution
cons: it’s manufactured by ASUS!! which i really dont like esp. with what happened to my dad’s laptop, to cut the long story, it was repaired naman by asus for free, pero naka 2-3 months na waiting period. (naka tatlong balik…

Samsung tab 2 pros: well,, samsung made.. plus upgradable to 4.1
cons: just dual core cpu and lower resolution

kabibili ko lang nyan kanina? a 3g verision worth 1,250 Rm.here in malaysia.

  6. Nexus 7 is Google’s own so I think it must be better than this, and hopefully cheaper as well. But this one has a back camera.

  7. Nexus 7 is future proof. So whever there are updates wit the os, unang una itong makakakuha. Unlike galaxies, 1, 2, 3 updates lang at wala na.

  8. I’ll go with Nexus 7, kahit 8GB lang yun ok lang.

Unofficially, who knows with gray market sellers..

    • @calvin just bought SGT 2 p3110 last sunday,so far im quite impressed with the tab2,smooth running, nice display(not the best) but very good colors/pixels.. coming from a froyo/gingerbread OS i found ICS very easy to use.,i just hope they can bring down the price of p3100..i feel like its very close to the p6200,imo p6200 is much better than p3100 =)

    • It’s as low as 10K na lang ngayon. I plan on buying the WiFi enabled Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 during the end of this summer nga e. I just hope the price still goes down… Ugh. Kung may 16GB lang ng Nexus 7 in the Phils right now. Papatusin ko na yun

  9. sorry for the nexus 7 topic, wrong reply button! =) peace

  10. Pinakapogi talaga galaxy tab 7.7. Pinaka slim sa lahat nang galaxy tab family and super amoled plus pa. Kaso lagi akong may dalang bag.

  12. Is it possible to call on this unit? is this the same also like mobile phone???

    asking only

  14. It’s now available at 10K.
