Samsung introduces three new Omnia Smartphones

With the success of the first Omnia which sold more than 2.5 million units worldwide last year, Samsung recently introduced three new Omnia Smartphones running on the latest Windows Mobile 6.5 platform.

b7300

Pretty basic touchscreen smartphone. Touch sensitivity is kinda lacking for me and touch-typing is a bit difficult on its small screen.

Samsung Omnia B7330 (Slimmest full QWERTY phone) – P14,500

  • HSUPA 2.0 Mbps
  • 65K QVGA TFT Display (2.62”, 320 x 320)
  • 3 Megapixel CMOS / Auto-Focus
  • Audio Format Support (MP3, AAC, AAC+, WMA)
  • FM Radio with RDS / Bluetooth Stereo Headset (A2DP)
  • Video Format Support (H.263, H.264, WMV9, MPEG4)
  • A-GPS with Navigation / Pressure Sensor based Up/down Scrolling
  • Bluetooth® v 2.0 / USB 2.0 / Wi-Fi
  • Internal Memory : 270MB
  • External Memory : microSDHC™ (up to 32GB)

b7330

I like the form factor on this one. It’s pretty slim and feels solid in my hands. For some reason, the keypad is a bit awkward to use compared to other popular full QWERTY phones but you’ll get used to it.

Samsung Omnia B7610 (hybrid Touch/QWERTY) – P20,500

  • HSDPA 3.6 Mbps
  • 16M WVGA AMOLED Display (3.5”, 480 x 800)
  • 5 Megapixel CMOS, Auto-Focus
  • WMV / MPEG4 / H.263 / H.264 / DivX / XviD
  • Video recording
  • FM Radio with RDS
  • WMA / MP3 / AAC/ AAC+/eAAC+ / OGG / AMR
  • Bluetooth Stereo Headset (A2DP)
  • Fast Speed CPU (800MHz), QWERTY Keyboard, Work & Life Mode
  • GPS with Navigation
  • DNSe, Multi Push Email, DLNA , TV Out, Office Mobile, Business Card Recognition, Mobile Widget
  • Bluetooth v2.0 EDR / USB 2.0 / Wi-Fi
  • 1GB Internal Storage + External Memory: microSDHC™ (up to 2GB)

b7610

Chunky form on this slider-phone but it feels nice to type using the physical keypads. Touchscreen buttons are quite responsive as well.

The driving force for these phones will have to be the feature-packed Windows Mobile 6.5 platform. Browse using the new IE Mobile or Opera Mini with Flash Lite support so you can still view flash videos on websites. Play typical videos without the need to convert.

With these new and affordable Omnia Smartphones, Samsung is bridging the gap between business phones and low to mid-income consumers looking for productivity features on a phone.
