Smart intros own mobile browser powered by Opera Mini

Smart Communications partners with Opera mini browser to bring us a customized version of the small and speedy mobile web browser.

Smart claims that more than 3,000 devices will benefit from this upgrade, from basic feature phones to high-end smartphones as well as tablet.

width="350"The Opera Mini browser has built a reputation for its market-proof compression technology, which decreases the size of webpages by up to 90 percent before sending them to the phone. It results in significantly faster page loading and lowers data costs when users access the Web on a mobile network which works well in conjunction with Smart’s bandwidth-based ALWAYS ON plans.

The new version of the Opera Mini browser further levels up the user experience by improving page scrolling, introducing a new intuitive user interface and adding more functionalities, such as pinch-to-zoom on supported devices and a share button for sharing to popular social networks.

The new Smart-Opera Mini 4.3 and Smart-Opera Mini 6.1 browser are now available for free to Smart subscribers through http://m.opera.com.
