Sony Ericsson Launches First Android Smartphone with Walkman™ Feature

Sony Ericsson Philippines earlier last week launched its first Walkman™ Android phone, the new Sony Ericsson W8 Walkman™ phone alongside with three other Walkman™ phones – the Sony Ericsson Zylo, Sony Ericsson Spiro and Sony Ericsson Yendo.

The Sony Ericsson W8 Walkman™ phone features a 3-inch TFT capacitive touch screen with 320×480 pixels resolution, 600 MHz processor, 3.2 megapixel camera, video recording , internet over WiFi and 3G and runs on an Android OS 2.1 (Éclair). Also bundled with the phone is a 4GB microSD card, exclusively for the Philippine market. This phone is now available with an SRP of Php7,990.

Meanwhile, the other Walkman™ phones, the Sony Ericsson Zylo , Sony Ericsson Spiro and Sony Ericsson Yendo combines the Walkman™ music experience with social networking allowing users to enjoy better-quality music and connect to Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites.

A significant feature of the Sony Ericsson Zylo is ability to play music in high definition FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) format. You can get the Zylo for Php4,990.

Sony Ericsson Spiro

The Sony Ericsson Spiro on the other hand is embedded with TrackID music recognition software. You can get this phone for only Php2,990.

Sony Ericsson Yendo

The Sony Ericsson Yendo is the first full touch Walkman™ phone and features a four corner touch user interface similar to the Sony Ericsson W8 Walkman™ phone. It’s available for only Php3,990.

Each of these Sony Ericsson Walkman™ phones comes embedded with the GLEE Cast Version of the song Listen. A purchase also comes with an exclusive GLEE: The Music t-shirts.

Too thick. Compare that to an iPhone. Jeesh. Sony lost its mojo in creating breakthrough products. I used to be a Sony fan 8 years ago with all their innovations like the PlayStation series, VAIO, and televisions. Tsk. Wake up Sony!

  well that’s the problem. people are comparing everything to iphone and apple is suing everyone who’s copying their iphone. these phones aren’t made to be thin. not everyone want’s a thin phone anyway. it has its own market.. those who are not looking for a phone that looks like the iphone.
