Sony Ericsson Launches Xperia X8 with McAfee WaveSecure

Following the success of Xperia X10 and  X10 mini products, Sony Ericsson today launched the new Xperia X8, a mid-range Xperia smartphone adding to the popular Xperia range of entertainment smarpthones.

Having the same form factor as its siblings from the Xperia family, the Xperia X8 features a  3-inch capacitive touchscreen with a 320 x 480 pixel display and a 600MHz processor. It has 3G and WiFi connectivity,  Bluetooth, and a 3.2 megapixel camera with geotagging features.

Aside from the signature Sony Ericsson Timescape feature which displays the user’s  SMS, email, social network updates, photos, music and calls chronologically, the Xperia X8 also comes pre-loaded with the McAfee WaveSecure app.

The McAfee WaveSecure provides a more secure mobile experience by allowing users to back up their data including SMS, call logs, contacts, media, etc. to McAfee’s secure server. This data can then be accessed, viewed and restored to other smartphones.

The WaveSecure also helps protect data by allowing users to remotely lock the phone and wipe data from a lost phone. Moreover, users can track the missing phone through map locations and a patented track SIM feature. This tracking feature works even if the SIM card has been replaced.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 is bundled with a full-featured trial version of the WaveSecure for three months. To further use this feature, you have to shell out Php895 for an extended one year license fee online.

The Xperia X8 launched in the Philippines also comes with EnjoyPH app, a lifestyle app that gives users perks and freebies from establishments across Metro Manila, Cebu and Boracay. [Click here for more on EnjoyPH]

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 will have an SRP of Php 11,600 bundled with a 2GB microSD card and other accessories. It comes in full black, full white, unique gradient color combinations of white and aqua blue, white and pink, white and dark blue and white and silver.
