Sony Xperia 2011 phones won’t be getting Jelly Bean upgrade

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean was just released mid this year but unfortunately for last year’s Sony Ericsson Xperia phones, they won’t be getting it anymore according to Sony UK.

It was just a couple of months ago that phones like the Xperia Arc S, which was the company’s top smartphone last year, got their Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update. If the Xperia Arc S won’t be getting it, it must be safe to assume that other 2011 Xperia phones won’t either. They already confirmed that Xperia Mini Pro won’t get Jelly Bean as well.

On the other pond, LG Canada confirmed over Twitter that they got word from LG HQ that there are no more plans to upgrade their Optimus 2X and Optimus Black to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It was late last year when LG announced their planned ICS update for the two phones.

    hello,

Yung Xperia S po ba di na rin maguupgrade sa Jelly Bean?

    • Kirk

syempre flagship yun kaya mauupgrade=) pero i think kapag last update ng xperia flagship hnd maganda. like x10 na 2.3.3 and arc na 4.0.4. it feels like a beta nalang.

        i’m sorry x10’s last update is 2.3.2

    I’ll buy a Nexus nalang

  • At least it got ICS. Optimus 2x never even got that far.

  • the LG Optimus 2X was such a waste of investment 🙁

Shops would have sell 2011 Xperia and LG phones at a minimal or no profit price. Sony and LG shows no love for customers…

Sony released the ICS update for the 2011 Xperias like what they promised except for the R800i. But I was quite disappointed about this. 4.1 JB update should be the answer for the issues in ICS. 🙁

My MT15 Neo too has no ICS update (using PC companion and SUS) but the Sony website says it has. My only option was to root ICS to my phone but I’m against it ‘coz the ICS is not from Sony and its not tested on Neo.

can’t blame these companies din naman. if they keep on updating their phones. gastos na sila sa dev time, kokonti pa ang bibili ng bagong phones. pero dapat at least 2-years yung OS support ng mga phones para di palit ng palit.
