Asus ZenPad 7 and 8 leak before launch

May 15, 15 Asus ZenPad 7 and 8 leak before launch

Posted by in Laptops & Tablets

Not only the Taiwanese company’s smartphones, accessories and smartwatches are getting the Zen treatment, but their tablets too — Asus’ new tablets dubbed ZenPad 7 and ZenPad 8 are making the rounds in cyberspace weeks before its expected unveiling next month at Computex. Named after the sizes of the tablets, both the ZenPads 7 and 8 are reminiscent of the company’s PadFone design, and each have two variations in tow, represented by almost-hard-to-decipher model numbers seen in their other products. The ZenPad 7 (Z170C) has a seven-inch IPS display with a resolution under HD at 1024×600, and sports an Intel x3 chip, 1GB RAM, and expandable 8GB and 16GB versions. A 3G-enabled version (Z170CG) is also present. The ZenPad Meanwhile, the ZenPad 8 (Z380KL and Z380C) is — you guessed it — an eight-inch tablet with a QXGA 2048×1536 resolution. It’s also equipped with the better internals, as it apparently sports an Intel Atom Z5360 or Moorefield chip, 2GB of RAM, and four internal storage variations: 8GB, 16GB, 32Gb, and 64GB. These two tablets are expected to be launched in June when Asus kicks off this year’s Computex technology show in Taipei. Asus Vivowatch announced; promises a 10-day battery life

Apr 14, 15 Asus Vivowatch announced; promises a 10-day battery life

Posted by in Wearable Technology

Asus may toughen up the smartwatch competition as it is set to announce the Vivowatch, boasting a ten-day battery over a single charge, at an international design conference this week. The new fitness-centric wearable is equipped with a tough stainless steel body, sleep tracking and heart monitoring features. This, also, may not run on the much-favored Android Wear platform as it sports a black and white e-ink display, and a green LED notification light strip below it. On top of that, the wearable has an IP67 rating which shuts out dust and gives the device water resistance of up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. The Vivowatch is connected to your phone via Bluetooth for relaying notifications and other information. The Asus Vivowatch is said to be pegged at a price between $100 and $150 (Php4500 to Php6700) when it comes out in stores. via Engadget Related posts: No related...

ASUS Transformer Book T100 Review

Feb 05, 14 ASUS Transformer Book T100 Review

Posted by in Featured, Laptops & Tablets, Reviews

Update: ASUS Transformer Book T100 Multi-Color now available. To road warriors who are keen to find a good balance between a truly useful laptop and a tablet, the hybrid ASUS Transformer Book T100 should be an option. With its lightweight build and detachable screen that doubles as a tablet, it gives end-users easy choices for switching between a laptop and a mobile device in one little package. System This entry level machine comes in compact 10.2-inch unit that can be easily carried in a purse or a satchel. The 2-in-1 laptop/tablet device runs on Windows 8.1 and is installed with Windows Office 2013. Note, however, that users must activate the Office package with the serial provided. Hardware The screen sports a glossy, metallic plastic finish, while its detachable keyboard/dock is enclosed in plastic with a slate gray, brushed metal look and feel. The dock’s base has a coated rubber finish, which helps prevent the device from sliding off smooth surfaces. On the whole, it is easy to forget that the T100 is just a hybrid instead of a real laptop, if not for its mobile dock, which slightly raises the keyboard’s base when the screen is lifted. The touchscreen is easily attached to the dock, or detached with a press of the release button, and does feel (and probably is) much heavier than a typical tablet at 1.2 lbs. However, taken with its keyboard, the whole combination that results in a decent laptop weighs only 2.4 lbs, which is much lighter than most mobile computers. This should make it a truly competitive feature for workers on the go, students, and anyone who prefers to carry tablets but also need to work with notebooks (or enjoy the impression of working with one). Speakers are discreetly placed on both sides of the touchscreen’s cover, while a single volume button accompanies a Windows 8 button to help the user return to the Start screen. This is a helpful feature for first-time users of Windows 8, which is dramatically different from the previous...
