Apple unveils the iPad Air, what’s new with it?

Apple just unveiled their latest iPad products recently and the one replacing the previous generation iPad is the thinner and lighter iPad Air. So how does it differ from last year’s iPad with Retina Display? Obviously, the main difference would be its weight and sexier body. It now looks more like a big iPad mini with its slim bezels and is now just 7.5mm thin (from 9.4mm). It’s also lighter for almost half a pound from the previous generation. Next would have to be the power. It’s now equipped with the same 64-bit Apple A7 processor with M7 motion coprocessor as that of the iPhone 5. Unfortunately, the difference seems to end there. It has the same Retina Display, same 5-megapixel iSight camera, and same 10-hour battery life as that of the previous iPad despite having a smaller battery. But the mere fact that Apple made the iPad thinner, lighter and powerful without sacrificing battery life makes it a compelling reason to finally upgrade your iPad from two years ago. We’ll keep you posted on how much this will retail once it officially hits our shores this year. Here’s a rundown of the specs comparison: iPad with Retina Display iPad Air 9.7-inch Retina display, 2048 x 1536 9.7-inch Retina display, 2048 x 1536 1 GHz dual-core Apple A6X 64-bit Apple A7 with M7 motion coprocessor 1GB RAM ?? 16GB/32GB/64GB/128GB 16GB/32GB/64GB/128GB 5-megapixel iSight camera 5-megapixel iSight camera 1.2-megapixel front camera 1.2-megapixel front camera Dual-Band 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi Dual-Band 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi LTE LTE Bluetooth 4.0 Bluetooth 4.0 241.2 x 185.7 x 9.4 mm 240 x 169.5 x 7.5mm 652 grams (1.44 pounds) 469 grams (1 pound) 42.5-watt-hour lithium polymer 32.4-watt-hour lithium polymer SRP: starts at Php22,990 for 16GB WiFi SRP: TBD Related posts: iPad 2 set to be revealed on March 2 Apple Store PH cuts original iPad’s price by Php4,000 Apple reveals “The New iPad”, more powerful and with better graphics Introducing the iPad mini by Apple, starts at $329 iPad mini finally shows...

Find yourself wanting more space on your iPad to fit all those high-def TV shows you’ll be bringing on your next trip? If a 64GB iPad is still inadequate for your needs, why not go for the 128GB? Introducing the iPad mini by Apple, starts at $329

Oct 24, 12 Introducing the iPad mini by Apple, starts at $329

Posted by in Featured, Laptops & Tablets

First of all, I feel for those who bought the iPad 3. In less than 7 months, it’s now being replaced by the iPad 4 which was announced alongside Apple’s brand new baby, the iPad mini. Anyway, the iPad mini is now official and if you’re wondering what it’s like, here’s the rundown. The Apple iPad mini is, in the simplest form, a smaller version of the iPad which can easily be held in one hand. It has a 7.9-inch display which is slightly bigger than the average 7-inch tablet. The screen is surrounded by a thin bezel and still has the same 1024 x 768 resolution as the iPad 2 so app developers won’t have to do any work on their apps. At 7.2mm thick, it’s just 1/4 thicker than the fourth-gen iPad. And at .68 lbs, it half as light as the iPad, as light as a legal notepad. It comes in black and white, with the black model having the same anodization as the iPhone 5. Powering the iPad mini is the same dual-core A5 processor powering the previous iPad and iPod Touch 5th gen. It also gets FaceTime HD camera up front and a 5-megapixel iSight camera at the back capable of 1080p recording. Battery life is still rated at 10 hours, same as the bigger iPad. It will also be using the Lightning connector which is now the de facto port in new Apple handheld devices. The iPad mini will be available in WiFi or cellular model which is also capable of LTE. WiFi will start shipping on November 2 to select countries while the cellular model will follow after a few weeks. Pricing are as follows: iPad mini WiFi iPad mini WiFi + cellular 16GB $329 $459 32GB $429 $559 64GB $529 $659 That’s a really good price. Just $30 more than the new 32GB iPod Touch. Now the big decision, an iPad mini or an iPod Touch? Related posts: Apple reveals “The New iPad”, more powerful and...

Brydge, the ultimate iPad keyboard

There are many keyboards that has been made for the iPad but none comes close to what you can say is the “one”. Either the keyboard is flimsy, thin, or doesn’t give the tactile feedback for that “real keyboard experience”, or it may cheapen the look of a premium Apple product. Not until we saw The Brydge. A keyboard that looked like it was made by Apple for the iPad (works with 2 and 3). A keyboard that can truly make your iPad look like a MacBook. This is how a keyboard dock for the iPad should be made. Check out their video. The Brydge is a full-sized aerospace-grade aluminum keyboard machined and anodized to precisely match the look and feel of the iPad. The keyboard has a full QWERTY layout with additional hotkeys for specific iPad functions. It has a patent-pending click-in hinge made of metal alloys and magnets with a thermoplastic elastomer shell to secure your iPad. So secure that you can even hold it from the iPad and shake it without the keyboard falling off. When hinged, you can position your iPad close to 180 degrees of positioning. And just like those Smart Covers, once closed, both the iPad and Brydge goes to sleep. Brydge communicates via Bluetooth and has a lithium-ion battery that charges via microUSB. And no, it cannot power or charge your iPad (no wires remember?). The Brydge team said that a single charge can last you several months unless you opted for the version that comes with a built-in speaker. Brydge is a KickStarter product which started back in April and the funding was met early June. Production is underway and they’re accepting pre-orders over at their website with the first batch arriving on October 2012. Brydge costs $170 and the version with the speakers costs $210. For those who use their iPad to type a lot, investing on The Brydge shouldn’t be a hard decision. Related posts: Unleash the Kraken, Heavy Duty iPad 2 Case From...
