While everyone else is waiting to try the new Yahoo! Mail Beta, people in the UK, Germany and France are already using it.

So, if you want to switch to the new platform and try out the beta version, just do the following changes in your Yahoo! Mail account.

1) Login to your Yahoo! Mail and go to Options.

2) Select the Account Information tab and edit your Member Information.

3) In the Preferred Content filed, choose either Germany, France or UK. If you are to choose UK, it will ask you for a ZIP code — use this UB3 5AJ.

4) Save your changes. Login abck to your Yahoo Mail and you will be greeted with a page which will ask you if you want to try the new Yahoo! Mail Beta.

5) Select Yes and you’re on your way.

I’ve been using beta for a couple of months now. And my thoughts are:

    1) it’s neat–tries to be like Outlook with tabs
    2) but it’s SLOW

I’m not sure if having a desktop-like interface for a webmail works out well

I chose UK and it didn’t ask for the Zip Code.

This is pretty bad timing though, since the only time I can use Yahoo! Mail decently here in Shanghai is if I use Tor. Gah.

[...] It was April when Pinoytechblog reported on Yahoo Mail Beta and after a few months, I was able to give it a try a few minutes ago of its Microsoft Outlook look-and-feel. What I liked about it is that you can read your RSS feeds there. By default, the RSS feeds that you will be getting is the Yahoo Mail Updates and the Yahoo News Full coverage. Clicking the Calendar and Notepad will bring you though to its previous look-and-feel. The banner ad that you will usually see on the top is now located on the right most side. You do not have to turn to the next page to be able to see your older messages. All you have to do is to scroll down and you will be surprised how fast it is. And if you think I am using a DSL connection, you’re wrong. Hehe. I’m just using dial up. And if you still want to switch back to its original interface, you can do that too!
