Sea Oil to Challenge Gas Prices?
In an unprecedented move, Sea Oil is challenging the rising gas prices by offering a fix-rate Prepaid Gas Card.
By next week, Sea Oil’s Price Lock Prepaid Fuel Card can be used to buy 20 liters of gasoline (G5 X-treme and Unleaded) from any SEAOIL participating stations. The selling period is from June 10-16, 2008. Each card costs P1,070 and is valid for 10 weeks (June 10 up to August 16, 2008).

If you’ve been monitoring the price of gas lately, it’s been increasing at the rate of at least Php1.00 per liter. In two months, the price could swell beyond Php60/liter. So, getting a fixed rate on gas is an economical move to save up a few bucks per liter — that is, if you regularly use a car.
According to the promo, these prepaid cards can only be bought in a 1 week window — from June 10 to 16, 2008. The cards can be bought from Sea Oil stations or special booths — Metrowalk and Tiendesitas in Pasig City, Greenhills Shopping Center in San Juan and Shopwise in Cubao, Quezon City.
Some curious questions that hit us with this move: Will people gas up full tank just to save us? Maybe. Will people switch gas stations to switch up? Probably. Will gas prices still continue to rise? Undeniably!
