Get ready for the Sony Xperia acro S high-end rugged phone

When you think of rugged phones or phones made for active people, you would probably think of small, underpowered, pudgy phones. It’s very uncommon for high-end phones to have that ruggedized treatment but Sony is changing that with their Xperia acro s.

This 4.3-inch Android phone is molded from the Sony Xperia S but with an IP57-certified tough exterior that is immune to dust, can survive being submerged up to 1 meter under water for 30 minutes, and has a shatter-proof glass panel. All of this in an elegant-looking body that Sony phones are known for.

Powering the Xperia acro S is the same 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor found on the Xperia S. It also has the same gorgeous 720p HD display as that of the Xperia S, and same 12-megapixel camera featuring Sony’s mobile Exmor R lens. It does however, only have 16GB internal storage but you also get the option to use a microSD card which the Xperia S lacks.

The Sony Xperia acro S will be launched this month according to Sony Mobile PH. However, if you’re itching to get one so you can take photos of flooded areas in the rain without worrying about your phone’s safety, online seller Widget City will have it this week for Php24,350 or you can add Php1,000 to have it in white or pink.

Sony Xperia acro S Specs:
1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon MSM8260

i do not prefer buying in widget city. kasi sa tingin ko hindi sila ganun ka updated. i prefer cmkcellphones or db gadget. wala po akong pinopromote hehe

    • thejorlanb

widget is the most updated online seller. Though not always the cheapest…

    • SonyFanatic

cmkcellphones is quit expensive compared to widget while db gadgets widget is almost the same.

      • SonyFanatic

      • Dude, DB Gadgets and Widget City are owned by the Bornilla brothers. CMK Cellphones by Ms. C.M. Kho.

AFAIK only CMK sells 100% NTC phones. Other stores sell smuggled / grey / illicit / illegal phones with no official warranty and no official NTC sticker with no tax / customs / BIR. Kelan kayo ma raid ang mga ito? Calling BIR, CIDG and PAOC-TF.

        • comickster

true! true! haha that’s why cmk makes a reasonable price. although db gadgets update their unit every now and then. and all i can say is that widget city have insane style of pricing.kung compare mo sa dbg and cmk.(halos mag kamukha sila nang price) mura lang talaga sa dbg dahil imported galing ata sa kamag anak nila hehe. sa tingin ko lang. hindi ko naman alam pano sila maglagay nang price :)))

  • kazu

Mag mula nung dumami na customers ng widget city nag mahal na din prices nila, sa ebuystore ako bumibili and they are issuing a OR unlike others na walang resibo

    • SonyFanatic

      Do they have sony phones?

  • rocketlog

    A water-proof Xperia S! *drool*

I sure hope it gets officially released in the Philippines. Para bumaba naman ang grey market prices. 24K seems reasonable naman, but I’m sure it can still go lower.

Spoken like a true barat-man. LOL!

  • GNaynharii

how about po sa kimstore? recommended po ba bumili dun? sobrang mura po sa kanila. hindi po ba smuggled yun? and ano po ang risks and disadvantages of having a smuggled phone?

    • smuggled po yun. risk lang talaga sa buyer is the warranty. if magkaproblema, medyo matatagalan ang service since sa kanila niyo ibabalik. pag dinala niyo naman sa sony service center, hindi libre ang service kahit bago pa lang. magbabayad na po kayo.

      • GNaynharii

ay, talaga? hmm.. pero po, do you think okay parin bumili ng smuggled na phone kahit ganun po ang mga risks?

    • steelicon

According to unconfirmed sources, Kimstore, DBGadgets and Widget City has one single source for their smuggled goods. Try to ask around to verify.

      • GNaynharii

Thank you! Do you have any info about CMK?
