GMA News to launch first PH Facebook Newscast

The shift in national news viewing habits in the country may have begun: GMA News is now testing social media news waters as it is set to launch its first Facebook-only news show.

Dubbed ‘GMA Newsfeed’, the newscast will be anchored by Kapuso veteran journalist Ivan Mayrina, and will feature quick updates from the most important and trending news bulletins of the day in a pre-recorded two-minute video. It will also touts to be an interactive broadcast as users of the said social media network can interact in ways such as liking and commenting.

News outlets overseas had also started doing Facebook newscasts as early as last year, starting with US-based ABC News’ The World Tonight with David Muir, done in a sixty-second format highlighting one or two news highlights of the day.
