IBM is the fastest-growing BPO company in the land

At the 2011 International ICT Awards Philippines organized by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP), IBM has been named as the Fastest-Growing BPO Company of the Year. This annual event recognizes top individuals and companies whose contributions have greatly impacted the Philippine BPO industry.

The Philippines is one of the strategic locations in IBM’s Global Delivery network that integrates capabilities, assets and skills without borders.IBM Global Delivery sites in the country provide Business Process Outsourcing Services (Human Resources, Finance & Accounting, Supply Chain Management, and Customer Relationship Management), and Application Services to clients all over the world. The inauguration of four new facilities in Cebu and Metro Manila in 2010 significantly increased IBM’s global delivery capacity in the Philippines. That investment brought thetotal of world-class facilities that IBM operates in the Philippines to 10, delivering innovative and high-value solutions to both domestic and global clients.

“œThis award is a testament to IBM’s strong commitment to the country and reflects the company’s confidence and trust in the Filipino talent,” said Cassandra “œCandy” Soto, Philippines Delivery Leader for IBM Global Process Services. “œIt is also a positive affirmation from partners and the industry as we mark our 100th year as a global company in June 2011 and as we approach 75 years in the Philippines in 2012. We will continue to work together to deliver progress for the industry and our nation as a whole.”

Well done IBM… a person in a developed country loses his job, to be replaced by someone in the Ph. who needs to work at ungodly hours. The social effects of BPO are often overlooked. With IBM being a prime culprit, it should not be encouraged with an award for its exploitive practices.

Wow.. What a very narrow-minded comment you have there.. Remove all the BPOs here then tell me where you’ll put all those jobless people..

  • Hazel

    Oh! Great year to IBM!

  • I agree with Migz. Think of the bright side of having BPO in the Philippines. There are positive parts in having BPO that should also be taken into consideration.
