There are still only a few enterprise-grade Windows 8 tablet in the market today but we can count on Lenovo to release a modern business-class tablet for the professional on the go. That’s the ThinkPad Tablet 2, a lightweight 10-inch tablet with a stylus that runs on Windows 8.
The Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 is surprisingly light at just 1.3 pounds despite its thickness. Unlike the Full HD ThinkPad Helix though, the 10.6-inch IPS display on the Tablet 2 has your average 1366 x 768 resolution. It has that soft matte finish that you often associate with Lenovo’s ThinkPad line of laptops.
Powering the ThinkPad Tablet 2 is a 1.8GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2760 processor with 2GB RAM and 32GB built-in storage. There’s also an 8-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front-facing one, both capable of 720p HD video recording.
Ports and connectivity is aplenty on the Tablet 2. There’s a covered full-sized USB port, a microUSB port which is also used to charge the device, a headphone/mic combo jack, a miniHDMI port, and a microSD card slot which you definitely need considering the limited built-in storage it has. A 3G SIM slot can be optionally outfitted on this device if needed. Aside from WiFi and Bluetooth, NFC is also supported on this device.
For productivity, you can get the compact ThinkPad Bluetooth keyboard dock (sold separately) for the Tablet 2 which features that comfortable ThinkPad keys and a trackpoint instead of a touchpad. It’s not really a dock but a keyboard with a slot where you can rest the tablet so it will stand steadily.
The Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 retails for Php37,990 and already comes with Microsoft Office.
