Nokia Lumia 925, 4.5″ Windows Phone with 8mp PureView camera

Nokia just launched their next flagship phone, the successor to the Lumia 920, which is the thinner and lighter Lumia 925. This phone is almost the same as the Lumia 920 in specs but is enclosed in a sleeker body.

We’ve played with the Lumia 920 before and it was one of the bulkiest phone I’ve used in a long time. Holding the Lumia 925 was a welcome change and reminded me of the slimness of the Lumia 720 but with a bigger display. It also looks beautiful with its polycarbonate unibody enclosed in an aluminum frame to add a another texture to the phone and improve the antenna even more.

Contributing to the phones thinness is the removal of the wireless charging component inside. What you can do, however, is purchase the a case accessory to give your phone wireless charging capabilities.

It has the same 4.5-inch display size with HD resolution as that of the Lumia 920 but now it uses an AMOLED screen protected by Gorilla Glass 2. Powering the Lumia 925 is still the same 1.5GHz dual-core Krait processor from a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chip. What’s different now is the slightly lower 16GB internal storage compared to the 32GB of the Lumia 920. That can be a dealbreaker to some people considering this phone doesn’t have a microSD slot. Battery is still rated at 2000mAh and non-removable.

The camera has somewhat changed as well with the Lumia 925 employing a 6-lens system with Nokia’s PureView Technology on its Carl Zeiss optics. We tried the camera in a dim setting and it was still quick to focus and take a shot with really good quality. Quite impressive under low-light condition.

This phone is also the first device to get Nokia’s Amber update which gets the Smart Camera software among other things. You can take 10 quick shots in succession (compared to 5 from current Lumia phones) for you to play with its five features ““ Best Shot, Action Shot, Motion Shot, and Object Remover. HERE maps also got an update utilizing Livesight so your maps now has augmented reality.

The Nokia Lumia 925 will be exclusive to Smart for the first month and is free at Plan 1500 where you can take advantage of Smart’s LTE network. Pre-order is ongoing with units expected to arrive on August 19th. After a month, it will be available in Nokia stores for Php23,500.

Now waiting for the Lumia 1020.

  • It does not have a Xenon flash.

“We’ve played with the Lumia 920 before and it was one of the bulkiest phone I’ve used in a long time. Holding the Lumia 920 was a welcome change and reminded me of the slimness of the Lumia 720 ”

    Baka typographical error. dapat ba

“..Holding the Lumia 925 was a welcome change…” instead?

looks nice… ganda talaga ng design ng Nokia… problema lang yung windows OS hahaha

    • win

ok naman windows phone. you probably have never used it.

    • Griswold

gusto ko may instagram. kaya na ba?

      • I have to agree with you. Very impressive phone specs but the OS is still lacking for me like a dedicated IG app. Really depends on the user if you’re okay with the current apps WP8 has to offer but it still has a long way to go! What good is a high-spec phone if the OS doesn’t have much quality apps?

        • win

probably around next week may dedicated instagram app na. but there are already third party apps out there. read wpcentral.com. one developer of those 3rd party apps got contacted by instagram themselves para gawing official yung kanya. although na-delay yung release, it’s now an official IG app for WP.

  • If they will release the Nokia Lumia 1020 with an Android OS then they can shut up and take my money!

Even Nokia’s Marketing Global Head understands the disadvantage and knows how slow Windows is in improving their applications development even with it having 90% of the top 50 mobile apps from both Android and iOS!

C’mon Nokia! If you will just embrace the Android ecosystem (have an Android version of the Lumia 1020 is what i mean) then there will surely be a challenge for the top dogs like Samsung, HTC and Sony! (Just my cents)

shut up and stop saying the impossible. Android on a Nokia will never happen.

Android CANNOT even do the processing that the 1020 does. It already is a contender even with Windows Phone.

Android is a laggy OS. it’s not enough that all of them are buggy but Android fails by being the ONLY laggy OS out of the 4 out there. Even compared to S40 in the Asha series, it’s laggy as fuck. Only brand new ones are speedy. but after a few months, that multicore phone of yours will feel like old unless you reset it.

    • Jared

It will never happen until they change their CEO to a non-MS oriented one.

They COULD do it the BB way (side-loading apps) if they really want to but well, I guess its not on their mind these days (iOS styled ‘wall’ without the iOS app list = bad. Real bad).

      • win

WP already has more than 90% of the essential apps on iOS, what’s your point?

The only ones missing are the games.

  • This part take my heart “8-megapixel Carl Zeiss f/2.0 optics PureView, 6-lens system, dual-LED flash” good quality of picture is what I really like. Thanks Nokia Lumia hope this also give a Best Price.
