Fullscreen displays are now a reality with two of the most popular ones in the market today being the OPPO Find X and the recently released Xiaomi Mi Mix 3. Today we’re pitting two already impressive phones against each other. Which one’s better? Read on to find out!
Design & Construction
OPPO is no stranger to amazing aesthetics, evident from the Find X’s design which reflects the company’s penchant for style. The Find X has both its front and back panel protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 with its body frame crafted from aluminum. It’s also among the few models in the market today which sports a mechanical pop-up that holds the rear and front cameras. The Find X also sports this interesting jewel-like back panel design. It’s currently available in two color variants: Bordeaux Red and Glacier Blue.
The Mi Mix 3 on the other hand, carries its own charm. Unlike the Find X’s mechanical pop-up, the Mix 3 uses a manual magnetic slider with customizable functions and sound effects. Its front panel also uses Gorilla Glass as added protection and the body is encased in an aluminum frame as well. One of the Mix 3’s unique traits is its ceramic back panel, which is both durable and stylish. The Mix 3 comes in three color variants: Jade Green, Sapphire Blue, and Onyx Black. It has a special Palace Blue edition inspired by the beautiful antique ceramics in China’s historic Forbidden City.
The Find X has a slightly larger display at 6.42 inches compared to the Mix 3’s 6.39 inches. Both have AMOLED capacitive touchscreens, a screen resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels, and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. Aside from the overall size of the display area, the only difference between their displays is a small margin on the pixel density: the Find X has 401ppi, while the Mi Mix 3 has 403ppi.
Mechanical sliders never cease to be interesting, and the one present in the Find X automatically pops up whenever the cameras are needed. Whether it be when opening the camera app, or when you are using the Face Unlock feature. On the slider sits the 16MP+20MP dual rear camera and a 25MP front camera.
As for the Mix 3, the magnetic slider holds a powerful 12MP+12MP dual rear camera that can shoot 1080p video at 960fps! Its front camera is also a dual lens setup with a 24MP main lens and a 2MP depth sensor.
Both phones sport the latest Snapdragon 845 chipset with an Adreno 630 and a large 8GB RAM. They also come in 128GB and 256GB storage variants. The only main differences would be the battery capacity and security features. The Find X has a higher battery capacity at 3,730mAh compared to the Mix 3’s 3,200mAh battery, but the Mix 3 has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor when the Find X has none. Both also have support for quick charging. The Find X carries OPPO’s VOOC Flash Charge while the Mix 3 has both fast and wireless charging.
In conclusion, it’s really hard to choose a winner between these two until you start considering the price. At best, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 can be considered a cheaper alternative to the Find X. Though the Mi Mix 3 has already landed in the Philippines, there’s no official local pricing yet. The Mix 3 is currently priced at CNY 3,999 (Php 30,700) for the 8GB RAM + 256GB Storage variant while the OPPO Find X retails for Php 49,990.
