As promised, Samsung took the stage at the Mobile World Congress to unveil its latest flagship smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S7.
Surprisingly, most of the details of the Samsung Galaxy S7 that we previously shared with you guys turned out to be true, proving once again the prowess of the tipsters on getting exclusive information ahead of the actual launch.
Samsung’s new flagship smartphone inherited most of the display features of its predecessor which include a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display with a Quad HD resolution. Neighboring it is 5 megapixel front-mounted camera, along with a suite of sensors for proximity and ambient light just to name a few.
With the exception of the more rounded form factor, most of the design cues present on the Galaxy S6 were carried over to the new torch bearer. The only two things that are worth noting, as far as disparity in design is concerned, is that the hump on the rear camera is now less visible compared to the older model, and the addition water/dust resistant feature.
In terms of hardware, the Samsung Galaxy S7 is powered by an undisclosed SoC with 4GB of RAM and a 32GB internal storage. As the rumor suggested, the MicroSD card slot has indeed made a comeback on the SGS7, allowing users to expand the storage for up to 200GB.
Although the resolution of the rear camera has decreased by 25%, Samsung has used a faster f/1.7 lens on the Galaxy S7. The faster glass is complemented by a bigger image sensor and a new technology called ‘Dual-Pixel’ should theoretically make up for lost resolution and better im
Lastly, the battery pack of the Galaxy S7 was bumped to 3,000mAh from 2,550mAh on its predecessor. The handset supports wireless charging, as well as ‘Ultra Fast Charging’ feature which Samsung claims to be faster than on the older model.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is priced at Php 34,990 and will be available on March 19. You can pre-order your units from March 4-16.
